Prior to the forming of the Stereotypes, RayRo was an A&R at Def Jam in New York City. At 22-years- old, Ray was the youngest A&R in the history of the label. The first act he signed coincidently was Three, an artist discovered by Jon who was working at Interscope as an A & R admin at the time. “He was just so talented,” Ray recalls. A triple threat of singer, songwriter and emcee, Three’s humble beginnings are deep rooted in his hometown of Houston, Texas. “My mom listened to a lot of Isley Brothers and old Isaac Hayes,” Three explains. “I’d scratch the records and rap.” At eight years old, he rocked over the Isley’s “For the Love of You” and knew that one day he’d be on the mic fulltime. Raised on NWA, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Screw music and influenced by southern greats UGK and Outkast, Three combines rhythmic rhyme patterns with punchy lyrics. When Three caught the ear of Jon after interrupting his sushi dinner to listen to the aspiring emcee’s music through his car speakers in the parking lot – Jon knew right away it was something Ray had to hear.
With executive changes happening at Def Jam in 2004, Three’s major label album release never saw the light of day. Shortly thereafter, Ray was unexpectedly laid off after 3 1⁄2 years working at the major label. A month later the New York native was LA bound and joined the Stereotypes as the production team’s third member. Three was in Houston about to drop a new mixtape, when a fateful call from Jon had him on the first flight to Los Angeles. “Jon hit me and said, ‘You should just come to LA and get in with us and just start writing,’” Three says. He wrote on Far East Movement’s debut album, and continued to build the momentum for his own potential projects.
As the Stereotypes grew in demand as hit makers, Jon felt it was time to flex his skills as an emcee as well. The Sacramento native started rapping in junior high because most of his friends were breaking and deejaying. “I can’t breakdance. I can dance when it’s time to get my two-step on, but when it comes to backflips and spins and stuff, I’m just not agile,” he jokes. “Plus deejaying equipment was too expensive, so I started to rap. Rapping didn’t cost me anything.” He also started producing as a means to create music for he and his group to perform to. On his paper route, Jon would listen to Eazy-E, who was the main catalyst in his love of rhyme. While rapping was his initial passion, he opted for behind the scenes work due to, ironically, stereotypes. “I thought being behind the scenes was going to be easier especially being Chinese American. At the time you didn’t see too many Asians on American TV or hear them in music,” he explains. He cites the mainstream success of Far East Movement – who’s debut album they executive produced in addition to facilitating their Cherrytree Records/Interscope deal in conjunction with their production company Stereotypes Music – as one of the main influencers in his decision to pick up a mic again.
With Jon Street and Three as the group’s lead emcees, RayRo and Jerm Beats assist with verses and production. “I don’t really consider myself a rapper but more of an entertainer,” says Ray who can be heard supporting Street and Three with his witty punch lines and smooth verses on majority of the tracks on ‘The Fifth of Never,’ “Everyone says I’m pretty good though,” he laughs.
“I’m not one of the rappers in the group…yet,” jokes Jeremy, who solely writes and produces on the group’s debut album. The group describes their process as coming together and building a foundation for the songs. “We just sit in the room, collaborate and vibe,” says Jeremy. “We all contribute to each other’s verses.” With the Stereotypes on the beats, the combination is foolproof. “We don’t do anything different when we make a track,” Jeremy says of JON MCXRO. “Only difference is instead of creating the track and giving it to another writer, we’re writing and performing it ourselves.”
Melding together three of Hip-Hop’s four corners: The East Coast, the West Coast, and Down South. “I think it’s really dope what we’re doing,” says Three. “We have this East/West/Southern group going and it all comes together seamlessly.

Right (3x) you know what I want, right
If later on tonight I ask you to be my girlfriend
No doubt that just the Hennessy talking, that's the ENT talking
That's the Captain Morgan, that's the Remy Martin
And girl I'm sorry for carring it over.
If later on tonight I ask you to be my girlfriend
No doubt that just the Jack Daniel, that's the Louis the Thirdteen,
These drinks got me saying things extraordinary.
Don't believe in stories, but I'm falling for that Tail Fairy.
Godmother didn't tell me it be things like this, so lights run on right off that put your talking close enough to kiss.
So whos your girlfriend, please introduce this.
Tell me where yall going, no you holla, we can move this, to a bedroom view and leave our friends clueless.
Now that's a perfect picture, toast to whoever drew it is. Besides you drinking all my champagne, you ain't new to this.
Yes I'm expecting it, addressing it.
You gaurding that thing like brink, stop protecting it, so we can drive to the house and slowly get to wrecking shit.
Forgive me if I'm touching, and I'm sqeezing, use to catching and releasing, thinking by instead of leasing it.
I ain't trying to commit, but.
If later on tonight I ask you to be my girlfriend.
No doubt that just the Hennessy talking, that's the ENT talking
That's the Captain Morgan, that's the Remy Martin
And girl I'm sorry for carring it over.
If later on tonight I ask you to be my girlfriend
No doubt that just the Jack Daniel, that's the Louis the Thirdteen,
Now baby don't hurt me, see I was just flirtn', believe me I don't usually do these things on purpose.
Baby sak pase, what's up with you.
I sent you fifteen drinks that means I'll fuck with you.
You drink all fifteen drinks, don't I look fuckable?
I'm not implying I'm ugly, but that's up to you.
Throw me your keys, tell the taxi to retire, tell your girls they're more than welcome I'm their designated driver.
So where we eating at? Let me eat that.
Did I just say that in my head, or did I speak that?
Lets make this order to go, where I sleep at.
Make a motion picture, just don't tweet that.
So where your freak at? I'm try to bring it out.
You don't do that type of shit you only read about?
Now give me all your Xs and Os, while you posing in the mirror,
While you exit your clothes and your pretty toes.
Haha, I think I'm in love.
I'm a player and a coach, call me Bill Russel.
I'll be pulling so many bras, I swear I'll build muscle.
Even when I'm old and gray, I'll still hustle.
Pimpin' ain't easy at times it's a real struggle.
Bartender just poured me some dark liquor.
The more I drank, the more she look like a star stripper.
She whispered in my ear, "Lets head to the mall Vista."
Valet couldn't get my car quicker.
He pulled up already my roof up, two doors I guess you can say we were couped up. Back at the crib where we opened the Goose up.
Head to the boudoir blouse was loosed up.
This perfect stranger, can happy and danger,
You shouldn't hold back in askin' me for a favor.
I don't want to game ya, but hears a disclaimer.
If later on tonight I ask you to be my girlfriend
No doubt that just the Hennessy talking, that's the ENT talking,
That's the Captain Morgan, that's the Remy Martin
And girl I'm sorry for carring it over.
If later on tonight I ask you to be my girlfriend
No doubt that just the Jack Daniel, that's the Louis the Thirdteen,
Now baby don't hurt me, see I was just flirtn', believe me I don't usually do these things on purpose.
If later on tonight I ask you to be my girlfriend
You know what I want (2x).
The song "Girlfriend" by Jon Mcxro is about the singer's attempt to woo a woman he is interested in. The lyrics describe a night out where the singer drinks heavily, leading him to behave somewhat recklessly and irresponsibly. Despite this, he tries to convince the woman to become his girlfriend, even though he admits that it may be the alcohol talking. He continues to flirt with her throughout the night, making suggestive comments and attempting to initiate physical contact. The singer seems to view himself as a player and a coach, enjoying the game of seduction but also recognizing the difficulties that come with it.
The song seems to portray a somewhat problematic image of masculinity, with the singer boasting about his ability to "pull so many bras" and referring to himself as a "player." However, the lyrics also reveal a vulnerability and a sense of uncertainty, as the singer admits that he doesn't usually behave this way and seems to be genuinely interested in the woman he is pursuing. The repetition of the line "you know what I want" suggests that the singer is aware of the potentially predatory undertones of his behavior, but is unable or unwilling to stop himself.
Overall, "Girlfriend" is a catchy and energetic song with a playful and lighthearted tone. However, the lyrics reveal a darker side to the singer's personality and raise questions about the appropriateness of his behavior.
