J Dilla Lyrics

Don't cry

Alright, you sing it and I'll show you how
My voice would've made an unbelievable better hook (oh, ok, George)

I can't stand to see you cry
(I can't stand to see you cry)
It tears (stand to see you cry)
I can't stand to see you cry, no, baby, no

Babe-babe

Babe-babe
I can't stand to see you cry
I can't stand
Babe-babe

Babe-babe
I can't stand to see you cry

I can't stand to see you cry
I can't stand

I love the symbolism of the donuts in the video.

I think that it represents Dilla and his album (Donuts)

The donut ends up fading away due to decomposing which could represent J dilla passing away or his music in the sense of we get no more of it.

But then the donut grows back up again, symbolizing that while the one we all knew dissapeared, one day, someone will be there to take Dilla's spot. And I think thats what he intended as he's telling us to move on and to not cry. And the song's name is "Dont cry".

Or I could be wrong

Rest in Peace J Dilla.

When you learn that he made this using only the sample and nothing else, it changes your perspective on music completely. Like seriously he coulda did something much simpler and it still woulda slapped, but to have the musical sense to take a song and completely transform it within itself is absolutely mind boggling. Like just imagine keeping track of all that, and not to mention it sonically flows; its not just a mishmash of random sounds. He literally made a puzzle for himself and put it together. This song alone makes him the GOAT. Long live Dilla :,(

Even simpler thing would be a banger. What he did is unbelievable

Rza and Q-Tip kill me wit that, they'll use the original drums

@DickWolfInc

@@dominiquejones3805 some of the best beats don't add drums, just shine up the originals

It's a creativity trick to challenge yourself musically. It's almost as if he splits his creativity across different genres and styles, and competes with each one. It's like you can't compete with a guy that competes with himself.

And pulling a random sample out of a random song from a random record, setting rules for yourself just to complete break them. It's next-level thinking outside the box. The challenge of how much you can create out of something so small.

And the way that some people are dyslexic, which used to be an evolutionary advantage for pattern recognition; imagine being dyslexic by ear. If you have a photographic memory, you can see things out of order in a sense. He was able to rearrange the composition of what he hears to be able to pick out a good sample.

And despite taking all this into account, these 2 minutes still manage to blow your expectations out of the water every time. Not even Kanye is or was this talented.
