I'm sorry
J Smith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's nothing so resilient
As the love of kindred
Nothing so deliberate
I've found my home
But there's nothing here I own

I can't stop her from leaving
With our things and my dreams wrapped
All up in a bindle
I've found my home
It's empty now you're gone.

I'm sorry I don't need you need you now
I'm sorry I don't need you need you now
I'm sorry I don't need you need you now
I'm sorry I don't need you need you now

Left sitting and it's vacant
Without her or our worries
That never seemed to phase us
I'm not as strong
Can I go on

I'm sorry I just need you need you now
I'm sorry I just need you need you now
I'm sorry I just need you need you now
I'm sorry I just need you need you now

Somebody please come find me find me here
Somebody please come find me find me here
Somebody please come find me find me here
Somebody please come find me find me here

Cause I've got nothing left
Somebody please come find me
And I'm at the water's edge
Somebody please come find me
All I think when I look down

Somebody please come find me
Is I hope that you're around

Overall Meaning

In this song, J. Smith reflects on the love he once had with someone who has left him. He starts off by acknowledging that the love between family members is the strongest love one can experience. He notes that he has found his home, but he doesn't own anything in it. The next few lines reveal the heartbreak he is experiencing as he watches his partner pack and leave with all their belongings and dreams bundled up. He has a sense of belonging but the house is empty now that his partner is gone.

In the chorus, J. Smith apologizes for not being strong enough to move on from his partner. He is sorry that he needs her with him now that she is gone. In the second verse, he describes the emptiness and vacancy he is feeling without her around. The worries they once shared that didn't seem to phase them are now too much for him to handle alone. He questions his own strength and wonders if he can go on without her. He pleads for someone to come find him because he feels like he has nothing left, and all he can think about is her.
