Having released his début 7-inch single in February 2012 ('Clear The Air' b/w 'A House on the Moon' on Action Weekend Records), Gardner's first full-length album, Cabinet of Curiosities, was released to worldwide acclaim in February 2013, thru Trouble In Mind Records (world) and indie label Excelsior Recordings (Netherlands). It made Gardner a bit of a neo-psych / neo-baroque darling overnight.
Gardner's live band featured two members of the 1980s inspired synth band Lola Kite: Keez Groenteman (guitar) and Jasper Verhulst (bass guitar). Gardner himself is also a member of Lola Kite's live roster and he produced their second album.
Gardner's sophomore album, Hypnophobia (2015), was released, this time thru Excelsior (Netherlands), Polyvinyl (North America) and Full Time Hobby (Rest of World), whereas Burger Records released it on cassette.
Gardner's third album marked a dramatic shift in musical style: the spacey and fully instrumental Somnium (2018), an album full of analogue synths and 'cosmic exploration'. Since 2018 Jacco Gardner has been focused two of his side projects: Bruxas and Metius.
Clear the Air
Jacco Gardner Lyrics

This feeling's just the same
Every time your presence seems enough to change my name
Is it best to clear the air
Of sunshine for a while
Wouldn't it be better if the sunshine made you smile?
I would like to
Clear the air
It's not fair
Time will tell what happens if
The flowers disappear
If darkness holds til we will meet
Each other every year
It's alright if you take your time
Love will find its place in line
Just kill this mood or we'll be grey
After all that was has died away
I can't see you
I would like to
Clear the air
It's not fair
(x3)
The lyrics to Jacco Gardner's song Clear the Air are introspective and emotional, conveying feelings of longing and confusion in a relationship. The opening lines express a sense of familiarity and consistency in the connection between the two people, but also a palpable tension and uncertainty about the future. This is echoed in the repeated refrain "I can't see you, I would like to, clear the air, it's not fair," which seems to encapsulate the singer's desire for clarity and honesty, even if the truth is painful or difficult to hear.
The second verse introduces a metaphor of sunshine and darkness, posing the question of whether it is better to face the truth head-on and weather the storm, or avoid difficult conversations and pretend that everything is okay. The final lines return to a sense of hopefulness and optimism, asserting that love will eventually find a way and that it is important to work through any lingering negativity before moving forward. Overall, the lyrics to Clear the Air are a powerful exploration of the complexities of relationships, with all their joys, sorrows, and uncertainties.

I can't believe it's been ten years and he still hasn't been recognized as one of the greatest psychedelic artists yet. I love it.

I am absolutely loving your song. Such authentic 60's psychedelia. I hear shades of old Moody Blues kicking in here at 1:18. I wish you all the best with it. Fantastic!!! Thanks to Hans for sharing this with me.
