Worry
Jack Garratt Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My nights are broken up by the sounds of women I'll never meet
And when my eyes are closed I can start to feel you staring at me
The right side of my bed has always left me feeling stuck in between (oh, oh, oh, oh)
Everything I know and all the lies I tell myself so I can sleep

Pick apart the pieces you left
Don't you worry about it, don't you worry about it
Try and give yourself some rest
And let me worry about it, let me worry about it

You came around to say that you've been away, like I hadn't known
As if I don't wake up every single day not seeing you go
As if this moon of ours only shines a half to make me feel whole
As if I haven't felt your breath in every step I take when the wind blows

Pick apart the pieces you left
Don't you worry about it, don't you worry about it
Try and give yourself some rest
And let me worry about it, let me worry about it

Pick apart the pieces you left
Don't you worry about it, don't you worry about it
Try and give yourself some rest
And let me worry about it, let me worry about it

(Oh, oh, oh, oh) (worry)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh) (worry)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh) (worry)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh) (worry)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh) (worry)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh) (worry)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh) (worry)

Pick apart the pieces you left
Don't you worry about it, don't you worry about it
Try and give yourself some rest
And let me worry about it, let me worry about it

Overall Meaning

In Jack Garratt's song "Worry," he talks about the constant anxiety and the feeling of being stuck in between everything he knows and the lies he tells himself to find some sort of comfort. He sings about how his nights are filled with the sounds of women he'll never meet, and when he closes his eyes, he can imagine someone staring at him. The right side of his bed signifies the emptiness and void he feels without this person. Jack then asks this person to let him worry about everything and to pick apart the pieces they left, leaving them to take a rest.

The second verse of the song portrays Jack's longing for this person to come back, and how he's aware of their absence every day. He talks about how their absence makes him feel half and how he can feel them in every step he takes when the wind blows. The chorus repeats the same request of picking apart the pieces they left while Jack worries about it.

Jack Garratt's "Worry" is more than just a song about relationship anxieties. These lyrics resonate with people who are dealing with anxiety in general. It conveys the message that even though we can't control everything, it's important to ask for help and support when it's needed.
