You're Mine
Jack Greene & Jeannie Seely Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I won't say that I'm the only one who loved you
[ Jeannie ]
I can't say I make you happy all the time
[ Both ]
There's someone you can't forget you never will and yet
As far as my heart's concerned you're mine
[ Jack ]
[ Jeannie ]
And you forget with I'm around you sometimes
[ Both ]
There are words I try to say when you turn and walk away
But as far as my heart's concerned you're mine
You're mine and yet I know someday I'll lose you
[ Jack ]
But you can't take this happiness I've found
[ Both ]
I know it may sound foolish when I tell you that I'm satisfied just having you around
[ Jack ]
Even when you're in my arms I know you're lonely
[ Jeannie ]
Wish that I could take that someone all to mine
[ Both ]
But it seems you can't forget you never will and yet
As far as my heart's concerned you're mine
The song "You're Mine" by Jack Greene and Jeannie Seely expresses conflicting emotions of love and insecurity in a relationship. The duo sings about being in love with someone who never reciprocates the same level of affection or commitment. The first verse highlights the fact that the person they love will always have feelings for someone else, but regardless of that, they feel that person is theirs, and their love is enough. The line "As far as my heart's concerned, you're mine" emphasizes that though the person may be with someone else, in their heart, they belong to the singer.
The second verse talks about how the person never acknowledges their importance or need for them, and they feel left out at times, but their love never fades. They know that the day will come when they will lose that person, but they cherish the happiness they have found while it lasts. Despite their insecurities, they are satisfied to have that person around, even if just as a friend.
In conclusion, "You're Mine" is a poignant ballad that explores the complexities of unrequited love. It highlights the struggles of loving someone who never reciprocates the same feelings and the comfort of finding happiness in what little they have.

had the wonderful opportunity to see Jeannie close up at SHAPE Top Graders Club in SHAPE Belgium, in 69. She can to entertain, along with her husband Hank Cochran. She did a great job performing that night and was so personable and down to earth. I don't believe she and Jack Green received nearly enough recognition for the top-rate country talents the are. This song, along with many others, should be proof enough. They did this song on the show of my mom's cousins, the Wilburn Brothers. Yes, I am from Hardy, Arkansas, the place where the Wilburn family grew up.
