I’ve been in one of these rooms. The scariest thing about it was the fact that there was no way to get out without someone from the outside opening the door for you. The thought of being trapped in there and not being able to yell for help was terrifying.

Complete silence is uncomfortable. Most of us have heard the whooshing sound (blood circulating) around the ears. And we all subconsciously make noise to make the sensation go away. I always like to keep a fan or radio on to keep from hearing it. Congrats on your new record.

The hallucinations are not from the quietness. It's because there is no lights. Setting awake in the darkness for long time without sleeping causes your brain to inter a state of half sleep half awake. Set in your bed for an hour with complete darkness and you will experience the same

My theory is that when the room went too quite, the body increased it's sound to hear, but that wasn't enough so the brain had to take over and let him hear whispers and other things, since he was in total darkness, he began to see long legged creatures just to see something, after some minutes go by, Jack had enough, he bang on door waiting for somebody to help him, coincidentally the security gaurd who was supposed to be watching him, went to the bathroom, then he waiting for 5 more minutes, after Jack got out, he stared at the ceiling and had no emotions.

The thing is, in a room of such audio isolation, the sounds he'd be hearing would be of a sound radius of kilometres beyond your hearing...
And because you've been hearing silence for the longest time, you can physically hear the space beyond you, as you first hear your heart beat, and then your blood brain barrier as your senses become heightened in zero sensory space.
Pitch black in that place would be utterly breathtaking. Your mind would've painted itself into the dark backdrop, no wonder you cried

The crazy part of the silent chamber is that you can actually HEAR ! Your sound receptors are going to catch the sound waves of your body organs which is kinda scary. Also when you’re used to hearing sounds and suddenly you go in a quiet environment it is scary . Deaf people are generally born deaf so they’re familiar with the situation and they cannot listen to their body like organs

I honestly think that if I was ever without sound that I would go crazy. My ears ring all the time and the quieter it is the louder it seems. Not to mention that my imagination would have me whipping around constantly to make sure someone wasn't coming to scare me. I hate being scared. It makes me feel like I would have a heart attack and die literally. I always assumed I'd rather be deaf than blind but I'm not so sure now that I have thought about it. I am so thankful that I have both sight and hearing.

Same. I’m also an artist, whenever I start drawing, my brain kind of like “disconnects” from the world and leaves me in complete silence for many minutes to let me concentrate on my art.
I wouldn’t be able to do it in darkness, I’m very afraid of it.
But if you leave me there with lights on and some stuff to draw, I could easily spend an hour, specially with the sounds of my own body, I could do horror art.

If I ever was to stay in that room, I don't know if I would lose it because of the quietness or the boredom. I cannot even stay in one position in normal conditions, not to talk about such a quiet place with nothing to do in it...I would probably lose it because of boredom, before the quietness drives me crazy.

The issue is stimulation. Doing nothing for prolonged periods of time like sitting still, being awake in a dark room, not doing anything except being in your own space. The room adds to the factor, but if you were stimulating yourself and not just doing absolutely nothing then it would be bearable.

I have experienced that kind of silence in the mountains at night. So quiet your ears ring and it becomes annoying. It is an incredibly weird feeling. But I really want to try this
