Over the next ten years, Jackopierce toured the world (3 continents, 10 countries, 44 US states) selling out venues everywhere they went. They shared stages with Dave Matthews Band, matchbox twenty, Counting Crows, The Wallflowers, Vertical Horizon, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Lyle Lovett, No Doubt, Collective Soul, Train, Semisonic and many others. During that time, they sold over 400,000 records (four independent albums and two on A&M Records).
Jackopierce ended their decade-long run in 1998 with a sold-out farewell tour and the release of Decade, a retrospective double-CD featuring many fan favorites as well as new and live material. As of 2001, Jackopierce resumed playing at small venues around the country, and a new CD is reportedly in the mix for late 2007. Tour dates and locations can be found on the band's homepage.
Get To Know Me Better

That I say, that's okay
You see things build and watch them end
All I want is to be your friend
Life is too short to play games
Make false claims, live under chance so
Build new things with our plans
First I take a little then I give a lot to you
And it breaks my heart to see you smile
Every time I tell the truth
Yeah, it's alright
If you would only take the time
To get to know me better
Now you trust what I say
Knew the day'd come soon enough
So when you ask then you'll receive
But you smile like you don't really believe
First I take a little then I give a lot to you
And it breaks my heart to see you smile
Every time I tell the truth, oh yeah
First I take a little then I give a lot to you
And it breaks my heart to see you smile
Every time I tell the truth
Yeah, it's alright
If you would only take the time
Would only take the time
To get to know me
Time, to get to know me better
Get to know me
Get to know me
Get to know me
Get to know me
The lyrics to Jackopierce's song "Get to Know Me Better" speak to the idea of building trust in a relationship. The first verse acknowledges that the listener doesn't trust the singer, but the singer still wants to be friends with them. The second verse urges the listener to stop playing games and take a chance on building something new with the singer. The chorus repeats the refrain "if you would only take the time to get to know me better," emphasizing the importance of patience and intentionality in gaining trust.
The bridge of the song brings up the theme of vulnerability, with the singer confessing that it "breaks [their] heart to see [the listener] smile every time [they] tell the truth." This could be interpreted in a few ways - perhaps the singer is surprised that their honesty is met with positivity, or perhaps they feel guilty for not being honest sooner. Either way, the bridge adds an emotional depth to the song that elevates it beyond a simple plea for trust.
Overall, "Get to Know Me Better" is a thoughtful reflection on the importance of communication and vulnerability in building relationships. The song's gentle acoustic instrumentation and straightforward lyrics make it a comforting listen that could resonate with anyone who has ever struggled to build trust with someone.
