In 2012, his homemade split-screen video covers of popular songs, such as Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'bout a Thing", began to go viral on YouTube. Since then, he has attracted a worldwide following, accumulating tens of millions of views across multiple social media platforms.
Collier's style fuses elements of jazz, a cappella, groove, folk, funk, pop, electronic music, classical music, gospel, soul and improvisation, and often features extreme use of reharmonisation. In 2014, Collier signed to Quincy Jones' management company and began working on his one-man, audio-visual live performance vehicle, designed and built at MIT in Boston.
On 1 July 2016, Collier released his debut album, In My Room, which was entirely self-recorded, arranged, performed and produced in his home in London. In February 2017, Collier was awarded two Grammys for his arrangements of "Flintstones" and "You And I", both from the album.

It Don't Matter
Jacob Collier Lyrics
It don't matter what your papa gon' say
(Gonna love you any old way)
It don't matter 'bout the games you play
(Gonna love you any old way)
It don't matter what the preacher gon' pray
(Gonna love you any old way)
'Cause when you wake up in the morning gonna throw it all away
It don't matter if you're here to stay
(Gonna love you any old way)
What the people think about you never gonna stay the same
(Gonna love you any old way)
Well, maybe you're gonna run away
(Gonna love you any old way)
But when you wake up in the morning gonna throw it all away
And it feels like
(Whoa whoa whoa whoa)
In the morning gonna feel like
(Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Feels like
(Whoa whoa whoa whoa)
So everybody clap your hands if it feels like
(Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa)
It don't matter if you gone astray
(Gonna love you any old way)
'Cause tomorrow will come, it's gonna be okay
(Gonna love you any old way)
Never even matter if you sleep all day
(Gonna love you any old way)
'Cause when you wake up in the evening gonna throw it all away
It feels like
(Whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Does anybody here know what I'm talking about, say
(Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Feels like
(Whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Everybody clap your hands if it feels like
(Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Jay, play
(Play it boy)
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yes, oh oh
And it feels like
(Whoa whoa whoa whoa)
And in the morning gonna feel like
(Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa)
(Whoa whoa whoa whoa)
(Whoa whoa whoa whoa)
Everybody gonna feel like
(Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa)
It don't matter what they say
I will be there
Let those voices fade away
I will be there
It don't matter what they say
I will be there
Let those voices fade away
I will be there
It don't matter what they say
I will be there (I will be there)
Let those voices fade away
I will be there
