Soon after the release of their first album, El Equilibrio de los Jaguares, José Manuel dropped out of the band and Federico Fong took a break from the band, relatedly, as well. Saúl and Alfonso looked for a person who could replace José Manuel. After a period of time, Saúl found the perfect replacement, César López Garcia, most famously known as "El Vampiro" (During Saúl's time in Caifanes he once called "El Vampiro" to invite him to Caifanes, but his invitation was declined, because "El Vampiro" felt in a good position; He was in Azul Violeta during this time. He was also a member of Maná from 1991-1994.) The look for a guitarist was over, but the search for a bassist was still remaining. Sabo Romo, the ex-bassist of Caifanes, was invited to join Jaguares and he accepted. Saúl added one more musician to Jaguares, Jarris Margalli; Jarris did keyboards and samplers.
After the release of their second album, Sabo took a break from the band and Jarris was fired from the band, because Saúl and Alfonso didn't need him in the band, since he was only doing small things in songs that were basically, needless. Jaguares got their name from one of Saúl's dreams. He dreamt that he was singing in a jaguar's mouth.
In 2007, Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur was released. It is a compilation album of various artists covering songs of John Lennon to benefit Amnesty International's campaign to alleviate the crisis in Darfur. In it Jaguares cover the protest song "Gimme Some Truth" from Lennon's 1971 album Imagine.

Gimme Some Truth
Jaguares Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Uptight short sided narrow minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth, just give me some truth
I've had enough of reading things
By neurotic psychotic pigheaded politicians
No short haired yellow bellied son of tricky dicky's
Gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocket full of hope
Money for dope, money for rope
No short haired yellow bellied son of tricky dicky's
Gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocket full of hope
Money for dope, money for rope
I'm sick to death of seeing things from
Tight lipped condescending mommy's little chauvinist
All I want is the truth, just give me some truth now
I've had enough of watching scenes of
Schizophrenic ego centric paranoid primadonnas
All I want is the truth, just give me some truth
No short haired yellow bellied son of tricky dicky's
Gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocket full of hope
Money for dope, money for rope
I'm sick and tired of hearing things from
Uptight short sided narrow minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth now, just give me some truth now
I've had enough of reading things
By neurotic psychotic pigheaded politicians
All I want is the truth now, just give me some truth now
All I want is the truth now, just give me some truth now
All I want is the truth, just give me some truth mama
All I want is the truth, just give me some truth mama, mama, mama...
The lyrics to Jaguares's song Gimme Some Truth express the frustration and anger that the singer feels towards society's hypocrisy and lies. He is sick and tired of hearing things from uptight, narrow-minded, and hypocritical people who don't seem to care about the truth. He wants nothing but the truth, and he demands it in the most forceful and emphatic way possible. The song targets politicians, male chauvinists, and paranoid primadonnas, who frustrate the singer with their lies and manipulations.
The singer's use of the metaphor "short haired yellow bellied son of tricky dicky's" is a reference to President Richard Nixon, who became a symbol of deceit and dishonesty during his presidency. The singer refuses to be "soft soaped" or deceived by these people who offer him false hope or money for drugs or death. The repeated plea for "just give me some truth now" reveals the singer's eagerness to get to the bottom of things and uncover the real story behind the lies.
In conclusion, the lyrics of Gimme Some Truth are a powerful indictment of society's lies, deceptions, and manipulations. The song expresses the singer's frustration and anger towards those who claim to speak the truth but deceive and manipulate to gain power and control. The song is a call for honesty, integrity, and transparency, and encourages listeners to demand the truth from those in power.
