Afterwards she retired (temporarily) from music business to give birth to a baby girl in March 2001. While bringing up her daughter Teja, Jamelia made plans for a comeback and in 2003 her sophomore album Thank You was released. The album went top 5 in the UK and sold over half a million copies. It featured her fifth top 40 hit, "Superstar", a cover of Danish singer Christine Milton's song, which gave her international success in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The single shot to #1 in Australia and was certified "platinum". Follow up single βThank Youβ went to number 2 in the UK and the track βSee It In A Boyβs Eyesβ which was co-written with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also entered the top 5.
That year Jamelia won a record breaking three MOBO awards, winning all of the awards that she was nominated for and she was also one of the nominees for the Mercury Music Prize which celebrates the best of British music.
In the autumn of 2004 she also was asked to contribute to the Band Aid 20 single "Do They Know It's Christmas?". She had a big role in the song, singing with fellow British singer Will Young. She also recorded the theme song for the second Bridget Jones movie, a cover of Sam Brownβs song βStopβ. Like her previous songs this also went top 10.
Her third album, "Walk With Me" is out in the shops now, and features the hit singles "Something About You" and "Beware Of The Dog", which samples 'Personal Jesus' by Depeche Mode.

Think it over one last time
Like you don't know yourself
Our labors all depend on you
There's consequence in what you choose
But if you loose I won't forgive myself
Showing that much self control
Won't bring back your life when you're old
Do something for yourself
'Cause oh, if you don't
You will never know, oh, no
Go, why would stay when it does nothing for you
Go, watching your pain only makes me surer
Go, holding you down, there's no way
That I can keep you
I say go ahead and save your life
Do something for the first time
It's the least you could do, yeah
Who cares if they won't take the risk
Your biggest one's not doing this
I cannot live for you
Infinite responsibilities
How about living duty free
Emancipate yourself
'Cause oh, if you don't
You will never know, oh no
Go, why would stay when it does nothing for you
Go, watching your pain only makes me surer
Go, holding you down, there's no way
I can keep you
Heavens sake I can take disappointment
But I can't understand why you won't leave
You've been quiet, awful quiet, no enjoyment
Comes a point when you got to take what you need
don't forget I respect what you gave up
But you lost such a lot along the line
Get it back, get it back, rise up
Get it back, get it back, oh, you gotta go
Go, why would stay when it does nothing for you
Go, watching your pain only makes me surer
Go, holding you down, there's no way
That I can keep you, oh, no, no, no, no, no
Go, why would stay, why would stay
Go, watching your pain only makes me surer
Go, holding you down there's no way
That I can keep you
The theme of Jamelia's song "Go" is about making a decision to take control of your life and leave behind things that are holding you down. The lyrics suggest that there is a choice to be made when it comes to the course of one's life, and that sometimes change is necessary for growth and happiness. The song encourages a friend or loved one to break free from their current situation and find new opportunities that will bring them fulfillment.
The first verse states "Say, why don't you change your mind, think it over one last time, like you don't know yourself." This implies that the person being addressed is struggling with a decision or is unsure of their own identity. The second verse suggests that there are consequences to every action, but that taking a risk is better than remaining stagnant. "Showing that much self-control won't bring back your life when you're old, do something for yourself," Jamelia sings.
The chorus is a call to action, telling the person to "Go, why would you stay when it does nothing for you?" The repetition of "go" builds momentum and emphasizes the importance of taking action. The bridge of the song acknowledges that change can be difficult, but ultimately it is necessary for improvement. "Heaven's sake, I can take disappointment, but I can't understand why you won't leave," she sings.
Overall, "Go" is a motivational and inspiring song that encourages listeners to take risks and chase after their dreams. It emphasizes the importance of self-improvement and making choices that will lead to personal happiness.
