Afterwards she retired (temporarily) from music business to give birth to a baby girl in March 2001. While bringing up her daughter Teja, Jamelia made plans for a comeback and in 2003 her sophomore album Thank You was released. The album went top 5 in the UK and sold over half a million copies. It featured her fifth top 40 hit, "Superstar", a cover of Danish singer Christine Milton's song, which gave her international success in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The single shot to #1 in Australia and was certified "platinum". Follow up single “Thank You” went to number 2 in the UK and the track “See It In A Boy’s Eyes” which was co-written with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also entered the top 5.
That year Jamelia won a record breaking three MOBO awards, winning all of the awards that she was nominated for and she was also one of the nominees for the Mercury Music Prize which celebrates the best of British music.
In the autumn of 2004 she also was asked to contribute to the Band Aid 20 single "Do They Know It's Christmas?". She had a big role in the song, singing with fellow British singer Will Young. She also recorded the theme song for the second Bridget Jones movie, a cover of Sam Brown’s song “Stop”. Like her previous songs this also went top 10.
Her third album, "Walk With Me" is out in the shops now, and features the hit singles "Something About You" and "Beware Of The Dog", which samples 'Personal Jesus' by Depeche Mode.

I've been around but never found
someone that compares to you my friend
that everytime you cross my mind
I wish that I could be the one for you
Its time that you knew
(But if I showed you)
how I really feel inside
(wonder what you'd do)
would you run away and hide?
(and if I told you)
What my heart is telling me
would you tell me you feel the same way that I
I do (I do)
If you were mine, I'd think you'd find
that nobody compares to me my friend
then why can't you see yeah
I try to show you, but I don't want to push you
coz I don't want to loose you
(But if I showed you)
how I really feel inside
(wonder what you'd do)
would you run away and hide?
(and if I told you)
What my heart is telling me
would you tell me, you feel the same way that I
I do (I do)
(But if I showed you)
how I really feel inside
(wonder what you'd do)
would you run away and hide?
(and if I told you)
What my heart is telling me would you tell me, you feel the same way that I
I do (I do) (you)
you (know that I'm waiting)
know that I'm waiting baby
Waiting for you to let me know
All this time that you were wasting yeah
yeah (all this time that you were wasting)
It could be, you and me I am all you need baby,
tell me,
if you want me,
coz you want me, like I want you
I want you, yes I do
I, I, I, I want it this time
(But if I showed you)
Show'd you that I feel you baby
(wonder what you'd do)
what would you do? what would you do?
(and if I told you)
That I want you, oh ouh I want you
would you tell me, you feel the same way that I
I do (I do)
(But if I showed you)
Tell me how you feel
(wonder what you'd do)
now what would you do? what would you do?
(and if I told you)
How I'm feeling would you tell me (tell me),
you feel the same way (oh yeah) that I,
I do
The song "I Do" by Jamelia is about unrequited love and the fear of expressing one's true feelings. The singer is in love with a friend but is hesitant to confess their feelings, fearing that it may drive the friend away. The chorus repeats the phrase "I do," which signifies the singer's desire to be with the friend and their hope that the friend feels the same way.
The first verse sets the tone for the song, with the singer acknowledging that they have been around but have never found anyone who compares to the friend they are in love with. The second verse goes on to express the frustration of the situation, with the singer trying to show the friend their feelings but not wanting to push them away. The bridge of the song emphasizes the singer's desperation for an answer, asking the friend to let them know if they feel the same way.
Overall, "I Do" is a relatable song for anyone who has experienced unreciprocated love or fear of rejection. The lyrics capture the vulnerability and uncertainty of expressing one's feelings for a friend, making the song emotionally resonant.
