Afterwards she retired (temporarily) from music business to give birth to a baby girl in March 2001. While bringing up her daughter Teja, Jamelia made plans for a comeback and in 2003 her sophomore album Thank You was released. The album went top 5 in the UK and sold over half a million copies. It featured her fifth top 40 hit, "Superstar", a cover of Danish singer Christine Milton's song, which gave her international success in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The single shot to #1 in Australia and was certified "platinum". Follow up single “Thank You” went to number 2 in the UK and the track “See It In A Boy’s Eyes” which was co-written with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also entered the top 5.
That year Jamelia won a record breaking three MOBO awards, winning all of the awards that she was nominated for and she was also one of the nominees for the Mercury Music Prize which celebrates the best of British music.
In the autumn of 2004 she also was asked to contribute to the Band Aid 20 single "Do They Know It's Christmas?". She had a big role in the song, singing with fellow British singer Will Young. She also recorded the theme song for the second Bridget Jones movie, a cover of Sam Brown’s song “Stop”. Like her previous songs this also went top 10.
Her third album, "Walk With Me" is out in the shops now, and features the hit singles "Something About You" and "Beware Of The Dog", which samples 'Personal Jesus' by Depeche Mode.
La La Love

I see them disperse in the wind
I thought I was so clear back then
Bout how much you meant
Meant everything
What makes three words so hard to say
What difference does admitting makeYou walked and yet I could not speak
I wonder why, cause baby I
La la love you now with all my heart
That's all I've ever done
La la love you like I never before
Loved another man
And I should have said
Instead I'm here telling the moon
I la la love you
La la la
I know the hurt and anger
Make you play down the way we were
Like you're talking to a stranger
But it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart
'Cause by God I swear
My love went nowhere
It was always here
It's just I never told ya
But I failed to show
What you should have known, that I
La la love you now with all my heartThat's all I've ever done
La la love you like I never before
Loved another man
And I should have said
Instead I'm here telling the moon
I la la love you
By God I swear
My love went nowhere
It was always here
It's just I never told ya
But I failed to show
What you should have known, I
La la love you now with all my heart
That's all I've ever done
La la love you like I never before
Loved another man
And I should have said
Instead I'm here telling the moon
I la la la
Love you now with all my heart
That's all I've ever done
La la love you like I never before
Loved another man
And I should have said
Instead I'm here telling the moon
I la la love you
La la la love you
La la la love you
In "La La Love," Jamelia sings about regret over not expressing her love to someone when she had the chance. She brings up memories that she wishes had been acknowledged, saying, "Tie all our memories on a string, I see them disperse in the wind." She reflects on her previous hesitation to admit her feelings and wonders why it was so difficult for her to say "I love you," even though she now knows that this person meant everything to her.
Despite the fact that their relationship didn't work out, Jamelia expresses her love and desire for this person, acknowledging the difficulty of the situation with the lines, "I know the hurt and anger make you play down the way we were, like you're talking to a stranger, but it breaks my heart." She ends the song telling the moon that she loves this person with all her heart, hoping that somehow her message will reach them.
"La La Love" is a powerful and relatable song about the regrets that often come with not expressing one's feelings, and the pain that can follow. The use of the repeated "la la love you" reinforces the message of unspoken love and the missed opportunity for connection.
