Afterwards she retired (temporarily) from music business to give birth to a baby girl in March 2001. While bringing up her daughter Teja, Jamelia made plans for a comeback and in 2003 her sophomore album Thank You was released. The album went top 5 in the UK and sold over half a million copies. It featured her fifth top 40 hit, "Superstar", a cover of Danish singer Christine Milton's song, which gave her international success in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The single shot to #1 in Australia and was certified "platinum". Follow up single “Thank You” went to number 2 in the UK and the track “See It In A Boy’s Eyes” which was co-written with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also entered the top 5.
That year Jamelia won a record breaking three MOBO awards, winning all of the awards that she was nominated for and she was also one of the nominees for the Mercury Music Prize which celebrates the best of British music.
In the autumn of 2004 she also was asked to contribute to the Band Aid 20 single "Do They Know It's Christmas?". She had a big role in the song, singing with fellow British singer Will Young. She also recorded the theme song for the second Bridget Jones movie, a cover of Sam Brown’s song “Stop”. Like her previous songs this also went top 10.
Her third album, "Walk With Me" is out in the shops now, and features the hit singles "Something About You" and "Beware Of The Dog", which samples 'Personal Jesus' by Depeche Mode.

(chorus)
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
Well, this year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
I keep my distance but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby don't you recognise me?
Well it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me
(Merry Christmas!) I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying "I Love You" I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now I know you'd fool me again
Chorus
(Oooh yeah...)
A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice
My God I thought you were someone to rely on
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A face on a lover with a fire in her heart
A man undercover but you tore me apart
Oooh Oooh
Now I've found a real love, you'll never fool me again coz
Chorus
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
Well, this year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
A face on a lover with a fire in her heart
A man undercover but you tore me apart
Maybe next year... I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
Well, this year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Give it to someone special
I'll Give it to someone special
Last christmas I gave you my heart...
Jamelia’s “Last Christmas” is a song about a love that was given away carelessly only to be regretted later. In the first verse, the singer talks about how she gave her heart to someone last Christmas, but they quickly gave it away to someone else. The singer is heartbroken and wishes to avoid that same situation this year by giving her heart to someone special.
In the second verse, the singer talks about how she’s been hurt before and is now cautious in her approach to love. She says that even though she keeps her distance, she can’t help but notice the person who hurt her. The singer is sending mixed signals, being both guarded and open to the possibility of reconciling with the person who broke her heart.
In the chorus, the singer sings about how she will give her heart to someone special this year to avoid the pain of last year. She’s learned from her mistakes and is ready for a new love. In the final verse, the singer reflects on the past love and vows to find someone new.
Overall, “Last Christmas” by Jamelia is a relatable and emotional song about the pain of giving love and having it taken away. It’s a cautionary tale about being careful with one’s heart and being ready to move on when love doesn’t work out.

I agree. More dud notes than a counterfeiter's wallet. Absolutely appalling!
