Wisemen
James Blunt Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She said to me, "Go steady on me
Won't you tell me what the Wise Men said
When they came down from Heaven?
Smoked nine 'til seven
All the shit that they could find?
But they couldn't escape from you
Couldn't be free of you
And now they know there's no way out
And they're really sorry now for what they've done
They were three Wise Men just trying to have some fun"

Look who's alone now
It's not me
It's not me
Those three Wise Men
They've got a semi by the sea
Gotta ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Gotta ask yourself the question
Where are you now?

Really sorry now
They weren't to know
They got caught up in your talent show
With you pernickety little bastards in your fancy dress
Who just judge each other and try to impress
But they couldn't escape from you
Couldn't be free of you
And now they know there's no way out
And they're really sorry now for what they've done
They were three Wise Men just trying to have some fun

Look who's alone now
It's not me
It's not me
Those three Wise Men
They've got a semi by the sea
Gotta ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Gotta ask yourself the question
Where are you now?

Look who's alone now
It's not me
It's not me
Those three Wise Men
They've got a semi by the sea
Gotta ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Gotta ask yourself the question
Where are you now?

Where are you now?
Where are you now?
Gotta ask yourself the question
Where are you now?

Gotta ask yourself the question
Where are you now?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of James Blunt's song Wisemen appear to be directed towards an individual who has made a mess of things and is now asking for clarity on the situation. The singer states that this person (possibly a former lover or friend) is asking to be informed about the knowledge of the wise men. However, the three wise men in this context, represent individuals who could not escape from or be free of this person. They indulged in every kind of hedonistic pleasure to escape reality, but ultimately realized that there's no way out and that they're sorry for what they've done.

The singer indicates that this individual's talent show, which is full of judgmental, pretentious people in fancy dresses trying to impress, has caught the wise men in its clutches. They got caught up in this individual's facade, which they couldn't escape, and now they are sorry for it. The final lines of the song suggest that this person is now alone while the wise men have a semi by the sea. The singer urges this individual to ask themselves where they are now and to think about their actions before it's too late.

Overall, the song's theme appears to be centered around an individual who is lost and trying to find meaning in their life. It talks about how people can get lost in their own desires and how they can end up alone in the end if they're not careful. It's a meditation on the human condition and the importance of being mindful of one's actions.

James Blunt is my main idol and protector.
He protects me from all evil.

For example: Smoking, snuff, cigarettes, violence, rapes, war, all kinds of crimes and even drugs such as heroin', cannabis, sharks and many other drugs and even against death.
Because I'm so scared of the death and the hell / the evil world.

If there is a ghost or a zombie who wants to hurt and kill me and send me there to the awful place, James Blunt will come quickly and defeat them.

He borrowed N. Tropy's tuning fork and fired a lot of fireballs at them.
James Blunt shot and fired, he had to shoot at least 19 fireballs / energy balls for them to be defeated.

So he protects me from facing my death.
Then he returned the tuning fork to N. Tropy.

I have 2 protectors.
The first is the one I said earlier (James Blunt) he is the one who decides and tells me to stay away from all evil things.
The other is John Paul Karliak and he's the one checking that I've not done anything stupid.

James Blunt and John Paul Karliak protect me from going to the hell / the evil world with the evil / demons and ghosts.

@walshy1009

I am 14 years old and yet my mum and dad raised me to listen to songs from the days where music meant something.

Artists like The Beach Boys, The Eagles, The Bellamy Brothers, Billy Joel, Lior, Mark Scholtez & more artists with meaningful songs have given us music that really means something and from time to time, effects us emotionally.

Sure there may be good artists in the modern days that have meaningful songs like Jamiroquai and Lady Antebellum but other then that, today's modern music consists of pop & k pop shit.

My friends can listen to whatever they want whether it be electronic (wub wub) but I will listen to the music that I was raised with by my parents and continue to find more music from the 50s to early 2000s.

People can put me down about what I listen to and the fact that it may not be "popular" or "cool" but at the end of the day, f**k them!

James Blunt you have great music that has helped my dad through his break up with my mum in the early 2000s back when I was only 5 and though he may not want to listen to your music again to avoid going back to his "dark times" I will continue to love your music till the end. Especially Goodbye My Lover, You're Beautiful, 1973, Wisemen & High.

Thank you for rich, powerful and meaningful music.
