James Brown & The Famous Flames Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I found someone to love me
I found someone to love me
I found someone to love me
I found someone to love me

I know it's true, I love you
I found someone to love me
Do you need someone to love you?
Do you need someone to love you?
Do you need someone to love you?
Do you need someone to love you?

I know it's true, I love you
I found someone to love me

(I know it's true)
(I know it's true)

I found someone who wanna believe in me
I found someone who wanna believe in me
I found someone who wanna believe in me
I found someone who wanna believe in me

I know it's true, I love you
I found someone to love me

(I know it's true)
(I know it's true)

(I know it's true)
(I know it's true)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of James Brown & The Famous Flames's song I Know It's True are about finding love and how it can bring meaning and purpose to our lives. The repetition of the phrase "I found someone to love me" emphasizes the joy and relief the singer feels at having found someone who loves them in return. The chorus, "I know it's true, I love you," further reinforces this sense of certainty and commitment.

The second verse poses a question to the listener, asking if they too need someone to love them, implying that perhaps the singer is not the only one who has struggled with loneliness or the search for a fulfilling relationship. The final verse shifts focus to the other person in the relationship, highlighting the importance of mutual support and belief in one another.

Beauty All Over

My cousin and his wife’s first dance at their wedding last Saturday. He tragically drowned on their honeymoon 3 days later, (yesterday) in Hawaii. This song will forever be in my heart.

The four people who disliked this video have never found someone who loves them. Sad existence. Great song!

How come nobody's talking about the drummer wonking out on the high hat like that?! I'm surprised to hear such funk in a recording from 1960. Good stuff.

Shenanigans

that swing funk feel is light years ahead of its time

I have an original 45 rpm of this. I didn't realize this existed as a 78 in the U.S.! 78's from 1959 are rare enough but any from 1960 have got be insanely rare! I know Chess released Chuck Berry's "Let It Rock," (his first release in 1960) on a 78. "Fannie Mae" by Buster Brown and "There's Something On Your Mind" by Bobby Marchan (both on the Fire label) also exist on 78 and those are serious collector's items! Congratulations on owning such a rare find!

My favorite late 78 is Money by Barrett Strong on Anna. The only Motown 78 (U.S.) BTW Barrett just died 1-29-23 at 81.
