Blinded
James Carrington Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can see in your face that the feeling is over
I can hear in your voice that you're not here at all
I can tell by your walk that you want to be elsewhere
I just don't understand why you let yourself fall
I can dry up the tears and get on with my life
I can wash out the past and start over again
I could live in a world without somebody's problems
So I don't understand why I can't let go
No I don't understand why I love you so

Blinded by your mystery it's taking me over
Blinded by your love for me I want to let go
But it's complicated you got me on my knees and I don't want your sympathy

I can see by the flame in your eyes that you're angry

I can tell by the cross that you bear that you're lost
I can only imagine the silence in your house

So I don't understand why you can't let go
And I don't understand why you love me so

Blinded by your mystery it's taking me over
Blinded by your love for me I want to let go
But it's complicated you got me on my knees and I don't want your sympathy

Seeing you smile, seeing you move again

Learning to to cope, being yourself, walking away knowing it's good again
Honey I'm scared of the end

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of James Carrington's song 'Blinded' address the complexities of relationships and the resistance to letting go even when it seems like it's the logical thing to do. The singer observes various signs that suggest their partner is no longer invested in the relationship, including their facial expression, voice, and body language. Despite this, the singer admits to struggling with moving on from the relationship, citing their inability to understand why they still love their partner even when it's clear that the feelings aren't mutual.

The chorus of the song centers around the idea of being blinded by love, with the singer acknowledging that it's taking over their life and making it difficult to let go. However, they also recognize that the situation is complicated and that they don't want their partner's sympathy or anyone else's judgment. The song ends with the singer expressing fear about the potential end of the relationship, suggesting that despite their struggles, they're not quite ready to give up on it just yet.

Overall, the lyrics of 'Blinded' offer a poignant reflection on the often-contradictory emotions that can arise in relationships, particularly when it comes to the difficulty of letting go even when it's necessary.

"Before I start, I must see my end.
Destination known, my mind’s journey now begins.
Upon my chariot, heart and soul’s fate revealed.
In time, all points converge, hope’s strength re-steeled.
But to earn final peace at the universe's endless refrain,
We must see all in nothingness...
Before we start again."

That's how entire civilizations are essentially reset. Similar to ~12,000 years ago.

I'm 38 and I've already been through two major apocalypses. The world ended in 2000 (Millennium Bug) and then the world ended again in 2012. Both were truly devastating events. Everyone died. This is getting too much, man. Too much.

Chareidos

I miss those timelines.

Peter Parker

I died in each of those and can't bare the thought of a 3rd time. death is so 2000 🙄

Chareidos

@Peter Parker 2k was definitively better than that nine-eleven saga after that with seasons and seasons of dirty campaigns... I am glad I stayed out of those server events.
But Considering we may now have a internet and power free society soon, that might be the kind of season change I could use... Will try to opt out for a solarpunk timeline.

Sometimes I wish I had chosen to slip to that timeline where Bush chocked successfully on that brezel.
