He began his working life as a doctor, turning to a full-time music career in 1996. In concert he has performed among others, Benjamin Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with the Manchester Camerata and the Northern Sinfonia, Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Tippett's The Knot Garden with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Sir Andrew Davis, Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra under Ton Koopman, the St Matthew Passion at the Concertgebouw, Pulcinella with the Ensemble orchestral de Paris, and Die Jahreszeiten with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and with the Handel and Haydn Society at the BBC Proms.

Gordon came out with this just a few months after I came back from Vietnam. I'd been gone almost 3 years. My wife Carol was at the gate waiting for me (jumping up and down). We'd been married almost 5 years. She told me that she could read my mind and then she'd just smile. We are two halfs of a whole. Never quite complete when we are apart. Over 55 years and counting. Still two young people just starting out.

@@Houdini774 Every morning I wake up and there she is, almost face to face. It's been that way, like a wish come true, every day of the past 57 years. Our daughters say we are like a couple of teenagers. They laugh and tell us we need to get a motel room. We've never gotten past the honeymoon. I honestly never thought that life could be this way.
