A lot of people think it is weird but the reason I do this is because I like to see if there are any similarities in the group of people that were able to escape versus the group of people that we’re not able to escape… Did these two groups have common characteristics that contributed to their outcome? Maybe the people that survived did so because they were able to think of ingenious ways of the scape that might not automatically occur to somebody and as for the people that did not… What things could they possibly have done different? Maybe not try to gather their belongings to exit the building? Not knowing how to get out in a different way from how you came in? Things like that

The main points I’ve gathered from all of that and what I’ve told my kids to do if they ever find themselves in a scary or life-threatening situation is to not panic even though it is very easy to fall into panic

It is imperative if you lose your head you may very well lose your life… Stay calm, try to think as clearly as possible and act deliberately with purpose

Be alert, be aware of your surroundings, try to find alternative exit that are different than the one you entered through… In the station nightclub fire for example many folks try to go out the same way they came in and all of the panic going on caused a bottleneck at the main entrance which ended up killing a lot of people

I was watching Tommy Cooper as he died surrounded by laughter. Nobody welcomes death but I think he would have appreciated the manner of his passing. He was a comic genius who could make people laugh just by being in the room.

My mum actually watched that Tommy Cooper performance on the tv with my grandparents and two uncles, and they all say that it took them at home afew minutes to realise what was actually happening. I find it eerie to think about the live audience and people at home laughing, because he was that sort of comedian, you never really knew what he was gonna do next.

I was watching Tommy Coopers Royal Palladium demise on live TV. All the family were laughing at his supposed prat-fall, until that hand appeared from behind the curtain. My little brother asked why they did that and my parents went pale and quiet. Us kids knew then, he wasn't playing. Chilling to see it again.

D.D. was such a beautiful artist, a massive game changing metal guitarist, a living God. Another one, although not really a "stage" performance, but a performance nonetheless was Owen Hart. He was a pro wrestler who died while performing a stunt that included him being lowered down from the rafters. While almost halfway down, his harness broke and he fell to his death in front of thousands of people in the arena during the WWF's Over the Edge Pay-Per-View.

piet jankbal Well that depends on how much that ‘silly little replaceable guitar’ means to you and how much of an impact it had on your life. For a lot of people that IS their life. Take Rory Gallagher for example, famous Irish guitarist in the 70s, during his early days as a preforming musician, there was some kind of a scuffle in the club he was playing which resulted in audience members getting on stage and destroying instruments. Instead of getting himself to safety, Rory threw himself on top of his guitar to protect it and sustained quite bad injuries as a result. Everyone interprets things differently, but to a lot of people that ‘silly’ thing might be their life Blood. People either do or don’t understand the feeling of saving something like a guitar, and it’s something that can’t be explained.
I, personally, would absolutely walk through hell and back to save my guitar because it’s so precious to me

I checked out the band Goodbye to Gravity out of curiosity after their part of the countdown. Being a huge fan of metalcore, I actually teared up a bit after listening to their song "I Won't Wait". They were just so amazing and talented and had a really melodic KSE vibe to their music. Such a shame that all but one member of the band died in such a tragic accident. For the Station nightclub fire. The security guards weren't allowing people to exit through the other exits. They stated that those exits were for the band Only. What a nightmare

there is a conspiracy theory that has been born after the incident.. a lot of romanian people, just as i do, believe that the owners purposely arranged the 'accident'; the first argument is that the club had a couple other doors, which were locked for no reason. also, many other bands who had concerts in that club used the SAME stage+ pyrotechnics+light show and no fire happened. and the list goes on with the reasons

My cousin died in that fire. That is what inspired me to become a safety auditor in the large factory where I worked in Rhode Island 14 years ago. I routinely report violations to fire marshals and have made over 150 such reports in 3 states with over a million dollars in fines resulting. Even after tragedies like this people still won't take fire safety seriously. I cannot tell you how many public buildings I have entered that were filled with hundreds or even thousands of people and found all but one fire exit blocked or obstructed in some way. In one case over 2000 people were present in a public building with only a singe unlocked fire exit and none were lit. I saw no emergency lighting so if there was a fire where the power went out over a thousand people would likely have died. There were also no smoke detectors and no sprinkler system in that building. That was the biggest case I reported and nearly half a million dollars in fines resulted and the manager in charge is still serving time as a result. In other places there is still absolutely no enforcement so reporting violations is pointless. I advise against entering public buildings in rural parts of Florida for that reason.

My dad told me that when he and his mum watched tommy cooper die on his program they thought it was just part of the act so they found it funny, they only found out what had actually happened when it was all over the news the next day

Compliments to the person(s) who made this video. I have seen many of this genre on YouTube but few will get in front of the camera dressed and groomed in a presentable manner and give a very professional narration and produce good graphics and edit so well. Most have off screen narrators who are actually robot voices usually due to the person making the video not being able to speak English so they us electronic voices that don't pronounce or accent words correctly and often use obscure syntax and very bad grammar. They are so pervasive on Youtube and so impossible to watch that even a mediocre video becomes welcome and enjoyable but this video is far beyond that. This channel is ready for either the History Channel or T.L.C. or some other major cable network and is air ready as in meaning no further work would be needed and I can't think of a higher compliment to give to a YouTuber. Well Done!!!

Every good and positive thing uve heard about Tommy Cooper is true, but it won't be a tenth of how amazing he was. Hilarious on stage and off. In some ways it's fitting and only right that he died with audience laughter ringing in his ears. He got laughs with jokes mere ordinary funny men wouldn't've been able to make funny. I can't believe it's been 33 years since he passed right in front of us all RIP Tommy... one of the VERY best.
