Lies
James Maslow Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Lies lies lies
[Verse 1]
Babe, yeah
There's rumors flyin' 'round my head
They say, you've been sleeping with another man
Tell me it ain't nothing (console me)
Without these fingers pointing
So won't you now, now.
[Chorus]
Got me thinkin about this love
Got me wonderin about us
And I don't wanna hear it
I don't wanna hear it
Even if what they say is true
Let's pretend that it wasn't true
Baby don't believe it
Cause I don't wanna hear it
[Hook]
Don't wanna hear these lies lies lies lies
Don't wanna hear these lies lies lies lies
Got me thinkin about this love
Got me wonderin about us
And I don't wanna hear it
I don't wanna hear it
[Verse 2]
Babe, yeah
These heavy whispers breathing down my neck
No way, could you be playing me behind my back
Tell me it ain't nothing (console me)
Shout it baby I'm still (the only)
Without
these fingers pointing
So won't you now, now.
The lyrics of James Maslow's song "Lies" speaks about rumors and whispers that surround his relationship with his lover. The song starts with him expressing his concern over the rumors flying around his head, suggesting that his partner has been sleeping with someone else. He desperately pleads with his partner to shout out that the rumors are lies and that he is still the only one she loves. He asks his lover to console him and deny the rumors so that everybody stops pointing fingers.
The pre-chorus reiterates his worries, as he ponders about his love and wonders about their future. He expresses his desire to live in denial rather than face the truth. He says that even if what they say is true, he doesn't want to hear it, and it's better to pretend that it wasn't true. The hook of the song is about his resistance against the rumors, as he repeats that he does not want to hear any more lies.
The second verse follows the same theme of rumors and whispers, with Maslow expressing his angst over the whispers breathing down his neck. He once again implores his lover to console him and tell him that the rumors are not true. The song ends with Maslow repeating the hook, that he does not want to hear any more lies.
Overall, the song is about the desperation of a man who is grappling with rumors about his relationship with his lover. He wants her to console him and reassure him that the rumors are untrue. The lyrics are heartfelt and emotional, and the melody is catchy and upbeat.
