I've Got My Mind Set On You
James Ray Lyrics

I've got my mind set on you
I've got my mind set on you
I've got my mind set on you
I know what I've got to do

It's gonna take money
Whole lotta spending money
It's gonna take hard earned money
To do it up right, child
It's gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
It's gonna take patience and time, oh
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it
To do it, oh yeah

Everywhere I go, you know
Bad luck follows me
Every time I've fallen in love
You know I'm left in misery

This time I really feel
I feel that it's really real
I feel if I put my mind to it
I feel that I really could do it

I've got my mind set on you
I've got my mind set on you
I've got my mind set on you
I know what I've got to do

It's gonna take money
Whole lotta spending money
It's gonna take hard earned money
To do it up right, child

It's gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
It's gonna take patience and time, oh
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it

I've got my mind set on you
I know what I've got to do

It's gonna take money (it's gonna take money)
Whole lotta spending money (a whole lotta spending money)
It's gonna take all of your money (whole lotta hard earned cash)
To do it up right, child (to do it up right, child)

It's gonna take time (it's gonna take time)
A whole lot of precious time (a whole lotta precious time)
It's gonna take patience and time, oh (a whole lotta patience and time)
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it
To do it, oh yeah

Everywhere I go, you know
Bad luck follows me
Every time I fall in love
I'm left in misery

This time I really feel
I feel that it's really real
I feel if I put my mind to it
I feel that I really could do it

It's gonna take money (it's gonna take money)
Whole lotta spending money (a whole lotta spending money)
It's gonna take all of your money (whole lotta hard earned cash)

It's gonna take time (it's gonna take time)
A whole lot of precious time (a whole lotta precious time)
It's gonna take patience and time, oh (a whole lotta patience and time)
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it
To do it, oh yeah
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it

This version seems to be missing the George Harrison backflip off a chair

LMFAO!

John Munk

Since he didn't have a motion video, the best he could do was sit still on the chair.

Mr Spectacals

George's double might I add lol

I'm an old, long-time Beatles fan, but confess that I didn't know George didn't write this

Malamute

he stole the song. but compared to james ray, geoge really does not have too much singing talent

@Jason M . They have a great nose for a song though. To cover. Bringing them out of the archives for our listening pleasure. Usually 'treated' with an 'up beat', extra instrumentals.

I'm shocked also. Great Beatles formula has worked well for them in past. "Covers". Why change it? Beatles members had a keen eye for a good listening song though.

I didn't know either, til after I heard it on the radio a couple of days ago the DJ mentioned George hearing it in the late 60s and didn't like it.

No worries. You are in the majority. George wanted The Beatles to record this song, but "The Greater Beatles", weren't buying it. The suggestion came from a "Lesser Beatle", George Harrison.
George changed the title, verses, and the feel of the tune. Got My Mind Set on You was George Harrison's last hit single. I only know that because I am a George-aholic!
