The Jicarilla were great warriors and their reservation west of Chama, New Mexico boast some of the best mule deer hunting anywhere. One of my best friends is a tribal member and is a hunting guide on the reservation. However, Jicarilla is pronounced closer to how it is said in this video https://youtu.be/LPYwHdg6-bk. I remember reading about the murder of Mrs. White and wondering WHY on Earth would anyone be foolish enough to disregard the advice of Kit Carson under these circumstances? If anyone would know best how to secure her safe return, it would certainly be Kit Carson. I'm not surprised that it haunted and disgusted him for the rest of his life. The name of this tribe of Apache is of Spanish origins and like all Spanish words with a "J" in the word it is pronounced with an "H" sound. Phonetically it's pronounced "Hick-A- RheeAh." Your video is otherwise great!

This was interesting. Jicarilla is Spanish. The J is pronounced as an H and the ll is not pronounced, think of it as Hickaria.

My ancestors were not great fans of the Native Americans. Thomas Cresap although had many indian friends escalated the wars with indians by complaining of their intrusion on his land holdings he was basically a real estate agent and use of government troop helped him in his quest for more land.
