1 - James Sylvester Scott (February 12, 1885 – August 30, 1938) was an African-American ragtime composer, regarded as one of the three most important composers of classic ragtime, along with Scott Joplin and Joseph Lamb.
He was born in Neosho, Missouri to James Scott Sr. and Molly Thomas Scott, both former slaves. In 1901 his family moved to Carthage, Missouri, where he attended Lincoln High School. In 1902 he began working at the music store of Charles L. Dumars, first at menial labor, but before long demonstrating music at the piano, including his own pieces. Demand for his music convinced Dumars to print the first of Scott's published compositions, "A Summer Breeze", in 1903.
In 1906 he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where Scott Joplin introduced him to publisher John Stillwell Stark. The first Scott rag that Stark published, "Frog Legs Rag", became a hit, and Scott became a regular contributor to the Stark catalogue. In 1914 Scott moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he married Nora Johnson, taught music, and accompanied silent movies.
James Scott's 1904 "On the Pike", which refers to the midway of the St. Louis World's Fair of 1904.
With the arrival of sound movies, his fortunes declined. He lost his theater work, his wife died without child, and his health deteriorated. Though it is said he continued to compose, he published nothing after Stark's retirement in 1922. He died in Kansas City, Kansas and was buried there in the Westlawn Cemetery.
Scott's best-known compositions include "Climax Rag", "Frog Legs Rag", "Grace and Beauty", "Ophelia Rag" and "The Ragtime Oriole".
Scott was a cousin of blues singer Ada Brown.

Man, the hidden details in this show. The song “Listen to your heart” that is playing in the background is a song by the Swedish duo Roxette, the fact that Joanna’s husband is Swedish gives this scene a poetic touch to it. Even though both of them were very complex characters, they still loved each other in their own twisted way, and they stayed loyal to each other until the very end.
Joanna died protecting Tyrell, she cleaned up his mess and made him a free man. The choices she made for him cost her her life.
“Listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye”

Free from the police, maybe.

So good, then the song stopped shortly and they played a flatlined sound when she was shot to indicate she was dead.

@Uehara Johji I don't understand your question. It wasn't a mannequin, it was her real body.

When a good song comes on in the radio in Mr. Robot you just know it's going to fade into the background music of a dramatic scene waiting to happen

Fun fact: One of the artist of that song is Swedish. That may be the reason why they choose that song

I may be in the minority, but I loved the decision to kill off Joanna here.
For all her plotting and scheming, Joanna never took Derek seriously and played with his feelings to the point where she knew Derek was helplessly infatuated with her, and yet she still chose to treat him the way she did. For the character that she was, I can see why it seems like a waste to be killed off that way, but her actions had consequences for her in the end.
I also don’t think there was much she could have added further to the story at this point either. Tyrell was too obsessed with Elliott and working with the DA, and Joanna’s focus was far too narrow to play into the wider narrative of the show.

Well said. We see so many people scheming and manipulating others in all sorts of ways, and we needed at least one character get a very direct bill for those actions. I think she was the perfect candidate.
