Gravity
James Webber Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You are the apple that falls for me
You are the air's strong arms for me
The reason I don't float up into the sky
From when I lay in bed at night
To when I'm sat or stood upright
O Gravity
You're so there for me
And one day I will wake up
The weight will all be over
And we will just be starlight
A future sun so bright

What storm blows this way?
What twister grows in me?
What galaxy my eyes cannot see?
Into the void of blue again
A hundred billion stars depend on
Gravity, pull her to me

For one day we will wake up
The waiting will be over
And all that we're afraid of
will no more be held sacred
For you and I are stardust
that everything is made of
And all of it is far light
This universe of ours
And all the world is weightless
An exploding star made this
The sun is so infinite
Love is so divine
Gravity
Gravity
O Gravity
Pull her to me

Gravity
Please pull her to me

Overall Meaning

In James Webber's song "Gravity," the lyrics describe the central role that gravity plays in the lives of individuals. The song is a passionate ode to the unseen but ever-present force that keeps everything anchored and prevents humans from floating away into space. The chorus of the song begins with the line, "You are the apple that falls for me/You are the air's strong arms for me," which encapsulates the concept of gravity as the constant and comforting presence that keeps individuals grounded. The singer of the song also goes on to express their gratitude to gravity for being there for them, whether they are lying in bed at night or standing upright during the day.

The second half of the song shifts towards a more cosmic perspective, imagining a future where the singer and their soulmate will become starlight and be free from gravity's hold. The lyrics describe the universe as vast and infinite, with a hundred billion stars depending on gravity. The singer hopes that gravity will "pull her to me," implying that the gravitational pull may one day bring their loved one closer to them. Ultimately, the song's message is about the power of love to transcend the forces that hold us down.

In this YouTube transcript, the video discusses various mysteries and unanswered questions about the universe. It mentions:

1. The Hubble tension, which is a disagreement in the rate of the universe's expansion, challenging our understanding of the universe's composition and physics.

2. The formation of the universe, starting with the Big Bang and the role of dark matter, dark energy, and ordinary matter in the formation of galaxies.

3. Various mysteries and unanswered questions in cosmology, including the shape and size of the universe, the nature of gravity, what happens inside black holes, the identity of dark matter, how galaxies form, and how the universe might eventually end.

4. The James Webb Space Telescope's role in shedding light on some of these mysteries and uncertainties.

Overall, the transcript highlights the ongoing scientific exploration and the quest to understand the fundamental aspects of the universe.

I'm constantly amazed by your content, sparking my curiosity to dive deeper into the enigmas of the cosmos. Thank you for fostering my sense of wonder.

This is excellent! So many times I've watched science videos that were slapped together, often with very basic errors and video that does not match what is being discussed. I subscribed today!

Thank you for your support! Have a nice day!

@Slide61

I wonder if the expansion of the universe could be the result of influence of what is beyond the observable universe on the observable universe vs dark matter/energy.

@Glavin883

Amazing content! What is the track/score in the last 5-7 minutes of the video?

@WaltC3

I love this series. This was a particularly informative presentation. It seems obvious that our current theories of the universe are nowhere near accurate, even in a broad and general sense. Dark matter and dark energy are theoretical constructs that are used to lend legitimacy to current cosmological theory, and that alone should inform us of how far off we actually are in our understanding. Really interesting...! So true that the more Webb supplies us with factual data, the more we discover we simply do not know. That sort of humility is a great place to start, imo!

@mbarrera47

This and some other videos about the James Webb Space Telescope say that discoveries and other similar things change or challenge astronomy ideas in dramatic ways. I did expect new discoveries to be made, but I don't know why some videos say really dramatic things about it.
Other than that, these videos are still interesting to watch about things in cosmology,

The most intelligent people are the ones who are ready to acknowledge that they know next to nothing, or nothing at all.
