Trying to get your head around the fact that me and you and love is dead
See how I'm trippin' out
'Cause you can't decide
What you really want from me
Why does it have to be like this
I can never tell
You make love you, love you, baby
With a little "L"
Why does it have to be like this
I can never tell
You make love you, love you, baby
With a little "L"
Why does it have to be like this
I can never tell
Seems like you're
Stepping on the pieces
Of my broken shell
'Cause you make me love you, love you
You're playing so hard to get
You're making me sweat
Just to hold your attention
I can't give you nothin' more
If you ain't givin' nothin' to me
Love you, don't you know that, with a little "L"
Why does it have to be like this
I can never tell
You make me love you, love you, baby
With a little "L"
You make love you, love you, baby
With a little "L"
You make love you, love you, baby
With a little "L"
Why does it have to be like this
I can never tell
You make love you, love you, baby
With a little "L"
Why does it have to be like this
I can never tell
Seems like you're
Stepping on the pieces
Of my broken shell
'Cause you make me love you, love you
With a little "L", you know
That's the way you make me love you, yeah
You make love you with a little "L"
That's what you do
You make love you with a little "L"
That's what you do
You make love you, yeah
You make love you with a little "L"
The song "Little L" by Jamiroquai talks about a complicated and unclear relationship where the singer is trying to understand the emotions of the other person. The first stanza sets the scene where the singer is confused about the love between them which is now dead. The next stanza highlights the confusion of the singer regarding the other person's intentions. He/she is constantly changing his/her mind, and the situation is getting complicated. The repetition of the lyrics "baby, you make me love you" and "with a little "L"" portrays the desperation and frustration of the singer.
The second verse highlights the struggle where the singer is trying to hold on to the relationship but is receiving minimal effort from the other person, making it challenging for him/her to keep things going. The chorus is repeated many times, and it seems like the singer is trying to convince the other person to take things more seriously. The song's bridge aims to showcase the feeling that the other person is breaking the singer's heart as he/she is stepping on the broken pieces of his/her shell.
Overall, "Little L" captures the emotional complexities of a relationship that is not going in the way it should. The song talks about the struggle of one person trying to keep the relationship moving forward, while the other seems to be playing games and making things difficult. It's a perfect example of how love can be confusing and hard, and sometimes you have to let go.
