The band made their debut under Acid Jazz Records but subsequently found mainstream success under Sony. While under this label, three of their albums have charted at number one in the UK, including Emergency on Planet Earth (1993), Synkronized (1999) and A Funk Odyssey (2001). The band's 1998 single, "Deeper Underground", was also number one in their native country.
As of 2017, Jamiroquai had sold more than 26 million albums worldwide. Their third album, Travelling Without Moving (1996), received a Guinness World Record as the best-selling funk album in history. The music video for its lead single, "Virtual Insanity", also contributed to the band's success. The song was named Video of the Year at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards and earned the band a Grammy Award in 1998.

Seven Days In Sunny June
Jamiroquai Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In the sand, they're strange
They speak to me like constellations as we lie here
There's a magic I can hold
Your smile of honey gold
And that you never seem to be in short supply of
Ooh, so baby let's get it on
Sitting in the summer sun
You know I've wanted you so long
Why do you have to drop that bomb on me?
Lazy days, crazy dolls
You said we've been friends too long
Seven days in sunny June
Were long enough to bloom
The flowers on the summer dress you wore in spring
The way we laughed as one
And then you dropped the bomb
That I've known you too long for us to have a thing
Ooh, so baby let's get it on
Drinking wine and killing time
Sitting in the summer sun
You know I've wanted you so long
Why do you have to drop that bomb on me? (I let you gonna drop that bomb on me)
Ooh, so baby let's get it on
Drinking wine and killing time
Sitting in the summer sun
You know I've wanted you so long
Why do you have to drop that bomb on me? (I let you gonna drop that bomb on me)
Could it be this?
The stories in your eyes
Turn off silent wings
You'll fly away on
Seven days in sunny June
Weren't enough to bloom
Flowers on the sunbeam dress you wore in spring
Yeah, yeah, the way we laughed as one
Why did you drop the bomb on me?
Ooh, so baby let's get it on
Drinking wine and killing time
Sitting in the summer sun
You know I've wanted you so long
Why do you have to drop that bomb on me?
Could it be this?
The honeysuckle blessings you seem to show me
Could it be this?
For seven days in June I wasn't lonely
Could it be this?
You never gave me time to say I love you
Could it be this?
I know you don't believe me but it's so true
Don't walk away from me, girl
I read the stories in your eyes
Don't you walk away from me
I read the stories in your eyes
And you've been telling me we've been friends for too long. yeah
I think I love you
I think I love you
Why do you want to drop that bomb?
Ooh
The first verse of Jamiroquai's "Seven Days in Sunny June" describes a romantic moment with the person the singer is interested in. The arrangement of pebbles in the sand speaks to the singer like constellations. The moment feels magical, and the person's smile is described as having a honey-gold color. The singer comments that the person never seems to run out of that smile. The chorus reveals that the singer has been desiring this person for a long time. It seems like they're enjoying a lazy day together, drinking wine and passing the time under the sun. The person drops a "bomb" on the singer by saying that they've been friends for too long to start a romantic relationship. The second verse echoes this sentiment, but it also displays some frustration. The two had shared an experience in the previous summer. They laughed together, and the singer was taken with the person's flowered dress. The person then drops the same "bomb." The bridge poses a few questions, perhaps wondering if the person reciprocates the singer's feelings. It's challenging to discern whether the singer and the person in question worked things out by the end.
