Começaram como uma banda cover de Bob Marley, UB40, Tim Maia, Jorge Benjor e de outros artistas que admiravam. Em 1997 receberam um convite do selo inglês EMI para a gravação de um disco. Foi quando decidiram batizar o grupo com o nome de Jammil e Uma Noites e começaram, de fato, uma carreira profissional.
De lá pra cá gravaram dois discos pela EMI, dois pela extinta Abril Music, um pela semi-independente Atração, dois independentes e dois Som Livre, em parceria com a Bahia Cinema e Vídeo e a TPM Music, selo da banda. O Jammil e Uma Noites foi a primeira banda baiana a gravar um DVD, o que aconteceu em 2002. Em seguida, veio o CD e DVD Praieiro Ao Vivo, lançado em 2005, registro de um show na casa paulista DirecTV Music Hall, atual Citibank Hall e de um show acústico realizado na Costa do Sauípe, Bahia, tendo duas faixas bônus gravadas no evento Axé Minas, em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.
Seu álbum mais recente é Jammil Três, novo CD e terceiro DVD da banda, gravado inteiramente na Bahia. Traz o registro de um show na Ilha dos Aquários, em Porto Seguro, e também os melhores momentos da banda no Carnaval de Salvador.
