Jan Berry and Brian Wilson collaborated on roughly a dozen hits and album cuts for Jan & Dean, including the number one national hit, "Surf City" (1963). Subsequent Top-10 hits for Jan & Dean included "Honolulu Lulu," "Drag City," "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena," and "Dead Man's Curve" -- which became eerily portentous when Berry received severe head injuries in an automobile accident just a short distance from Dead Man's Curve in April 1966.
This accident marked the end of their commercial peak, during which they'd scored an impressive total of 26 chart hits over eight years. The group finally stopped performing after Jan Berry died in March 2004.
Frosty the Snowman

was a jolly happy soul,
with a corncob pipe and a button nose,
and two eyes made of coal.
Frosty the Snowman,
is a fairytale, they say.
He was made of snow,
how he came to life one day.
There must have been some magic in
that old silk they found,
for when they placed it on his head,
he began to dance around!
Oh, Frosty, the Snowman,
was alive as he could be;
and the children say
he could laugh and play,
just the same as you and me.
Frosty, clumsy as he can be
see him lopping along!
Off he goes on an icicle spree
with a happy song!
Frosty the Snowman,
knew the sun was hot that day,
so he said, "Let's run, and we'll have some fun,
now, before I melt away."
Down to the village,
with a broomstick in his hand,
Runnin' here and there,
all around the square,
sayin', "Catch me if you can."
He led them down the streets of town,
right to the traffic cop
and only paused a moment,
when he heard him holler, "Stop!"
Hmm, Frosty the Snowman,
had to hurry on his way,
But he waved goodbye, sayin' "Don't you cry,
I'll be back again some day."
Thumpety, thump thump, thumpety, thump thump
look at Frosty go!
Thumpety, thump thump, thumpety, thump thump
over the hills of snow!
The lyrics of Jan & Dean's song "Frosty the Snowman" tell the story of a magical snowman who comes to life and brings joy to children's lives during the holiday season. The song begins by describing Frosty as a jolly happy soul with a corncob pipe, a button nose, and coal eyes. The children believe that Frosty is a fairytale, but they know how he came to life one day. The lyrics suggest that there was some sort of magic involved in the silk they found which was placed on his head, causing him to dance around.
The second verse highlights that Frosty was alive and just like any of us, he could laugh, play and make merry. However, being a snowman, he could also be clumsy, seen lopping along with a happy song in tow. The third verse describes how Frosty knew the sun was hot that day and that he would soon melt away. So, he took the children down to the village with a broomstick in his hand, running here and there, saying, "Catch me if you can." He led them down the streets of town, right to the traffic cop, and was only temporarily held back until he heard him holler, "Stop!"
The song has a happy ending. Frosty must hurry on his way, but he waves goodbye, saying, "Don't you cry, I'll be back again some day." As the children watch him go, they hear him thumpety-thump-thumping over the hills of snow, making his way home. The song conveys the magical and joyous spirit of the winter season, and how even the most unexpected things can bring happiness into our lives.
