Jan Berry and Brian Wilson collaborated on roughly a dozen hits and album cuts for Jan & Dean, including the number one national hit, "Surf City" (1963). Subsequent Top-10 hits for Jan & Dean included "Honolulu Lulu," "Drag City," "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena," and "Dead Man's Curve" -- which became eerily portentous when Berry received severe head injuries in an automobile accident just a short distance from Dead Man's Curve in April 1966.
This accident marked the end of their commercial peak, during which they'd scored an impressive total of 26 chart hits over eight years. The group finally stopped performing after Jan Berry died in March 2004.

And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now
And she'll have fun fun fun
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-bird away)
Well the girls can't stand her
'Cause she walks looks and drives like an ace now
(You walk like an ace now you walk like an ace)
She makes the Indy 500 look like a Roman chariot race now
(You look like an ace now you look like an ace)
A lotta guys try to catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now
(You drive like an ace now you drive like an ace)
And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-bird away
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-bird away)
Well you knew all along
That your dad was gettin' wise to you now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)
And since he took your set of keys
You've been thinking that your fun is all through now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)
But you can come along with me
'Cause we gotta a lot of things to do now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)
And we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-bird away
(Fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-bird away)
And we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-bird away

The lyrics to Jan & Dean's song "Fun Fun Fun" tell the story of a teenage girl who borrows her father's T-bird and goes on a joyride, neglecting her responsibilities and lying to her parents about her whereabouts. She drives recklessly and leads boys on until her father discovers what she's been up to and takes away her keys. However, the singer assures her that they can still have fun together without the car.
The song captures the spirit of teenage rebellion and the thrill of breaking the rules, but it also acknowledges the consequences of such behavior. The T-bird serves as a symbol of freedom and power, but it also represents the young girl's recklessness and irresponsibility. Despite the fun she has in the car, the ultimate consequence is having it taken away by her father.
Overall, "Fun Fun Fun" is a catchy and energetic song that celebrates youth culture and the desire for independence, while also acknowledging the need for accountability and responsibility.

The Beach Boys and Jan & Dean were all so awesome, it doesn't matter to me, they are all so fantastic. I'm 72, and remember both groups very well from the 60's. So nice to be able to hear all the old songs on You Tube.

I love the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean! This is Jan and Dean on this recording. The Beach Boys and Jan and Dean were very good friends, and at times recorded and performed together. Jan and Brian Wilson collaborated on writing some songs, such as Surf City and Dean Man's Curve. Brian loved for Jan and Dean to record covers for their songs. In an interview Brian talked about Jan and what a prankster he was. Jan and Dean sang backup on the Beach Boys Help Me Rhonda. I know Brian sang backup on some of Jan and Dean's songs. Dean sang backup on the Beach Boys Barbara Ann. Actually Jan and Dean recorded Barbara Ann before the Beach Boys. Jan and Dean started out singing DooWop songs like Baby Talk in 1959. Dean jokingly said one time that he and Jan were recording while the Beach Boys were still in diapers - dirty diapers. LOL! Jan and Dean were known as the "Clown Princes of Rock and Roll" because they were big jokesters and pranksters. Reading about what those two did together in high school is hilarious! I grew up as a teenager in the '60's with such great music!
