This is an excellent performance of Sweelinck's masterpiece!

Thanks for the upload. Just bought the sheet music at a thrift store out of curiosity for the composers name (hey, Sweelinck is all over the place here in The Netherlands). Tried some parts at my small home organ and wondered what it was actually supposed to sound like. All right.... sort of got the general direction, but it will take me years of organ practice before I can perform this even half decent.

You’ll get there my dear friend!! I struggled in my music theory class so you’re doing way better than me!!

J. Vonhögen

It took me about a year to learn to play this properly on the piano. There are many technical obstacles in this pieces, even for professionally trained musicians. It's very difficult for instance to seperate the individual voices, and the thirds in the left hand are tricky as well. Sweelinck's technical skills must have been stunning and intimidating at the same time. It's a wonderful piece!

"Exquisite variations he was now describing on an air Youth here has End by Jans Pieter Sweelinck, a Dutchman of Amsterdam where the frows come from." - James Joyce, "Ulysses"
