1) Jan Werner Danielsen, artist name Jan Werner, (April 10, 1976, Nord-Odal – September 29, 2006, Oslo) was a Norwegian pop rock singer, famous for his grand, powerful voice. His breakthrough came after winning two important talent contests, the last time on national television and the show Talentiaden (NRK) in 1994.
He was one of the highest selling recording artists in Norway at his death at the age of 30.
Danielsen won his first talent show victory in 1988, at the age of twelve. The first prize was a record deal. Then he had already been singing for two thirds of his lifetime, as his first public appearance in a musical setting was at the age of just four.
For several years after this victory, between 1988 and 1993, he sang regularly with the Hamar Symphony Orchestra. In 1992, Danielsen was cut his second record deal, and at the same time was included in the plans for cultural events during the 1994 Winter Olympics at Lillehammer.
1994 was a busy year for Danielsen. First there was his appearance at the Olympics, then the Talentiaden victory, and finally representing Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 singing a duet with Elisabeth "Bettan" Andreassen. They performed a ballad and got in at a respectable sixth (6th) place.
Danielsen released his debut album in 1995, called All By Myself, selling a respectable 35,000 copies, enough to earn him a gold record. From then on he was known to most Norwegians as simply Jan Werner, having dropped his last name. Inner Secrets, his second album, was released two years later, in 1997. It sold 14,000 copies and included some self-penned compositions.
His third CD, released in 1999, was Music of the Night. It was inspired by the 'musical' genre in broad, and it had somewhat the same success as his previous album. It was Danielsen's next album that would become his biggest seller to date, Singer of Songs (2003). It reached second place on the national album chart and ended up selling around 100,000 copies.
Since 1997, Bettan and Danielsen toured Norway with their Christmas concert. In 1999 and 2000, their concert tour was the most popular Christmas concert in Norwegian history. They released an album together in 1999 with music from their Christmas tour.
A personal highlight of his career came in 2003, when he performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, singing "Air" by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Danielsen's various albums have sold a total of nearly 1 million copies, an impressive figure in a country with just 4.6 million people.
On 29 September 2006, Febe Rognstad, Jan Werner Danielsen's manager, found him dead in his Oslo flat. An autopsy has not given any direct answers to what might have been the cause of Danielsen's death. According to Danielsen's physician, Unni-Berit Schjervheim, a final report of the autopsy will most likely not be ready until around January, 2007. In Schjervheim's opinion Danielsen's death was most likely caused by enduring strain put on his heart by his singing career. Danielsen's family have denied any rumours about his death being caused by suicide. His death caused an outpouring of grief in the Norwegian entertainment industry. At the time of his death he had recently finished a new album. In accordance with the wishes of his family the album was released as planned.

Jan Werner Lyrics

Luna tu
Only you can hear my soul, only you can hear my soul
Luna tu
Luna tu
Tu rischiari il cielo e la sua immensita
E ci mostri solo la meta che vuoi
Come poi facciamo quasi sempre noi
Only you can hear my soul, only you can hear my soul
The Italian song Luna by Jan Werner is a tribute to the moon, which has been the subject of countless poems, songs, and artworks throughout history. The song starts by addressing the moon as the only entity that can hear the singer's soul, highlighting the moon's mystical and magical power to connect with human emotions. The lyrics describe the moon as a listener to the voices of poets and dreamers, a source of light in the darkness of life, and a guide that shows us the way to follow.
The chorus of the song sounds like a prayer, with the repetition of the line "Only you can hear my soul" emphasizing the deep connection between the singer and the moon. The verses continue to explore the moon's mystery and wisdom, as it knows both the eternal time and the narrow path of truth. The singer admits his ignorance about the power of love, which can both hide pain and burn the soul like fire.
The last part of the song shifts the focus on human nature, comparing us to angels made of clay, paper-thin souls that catch fire, and hearts like leaves that fall. The moon is portrayed as a mother figure that knows all her children, the children of the earth as well as the children of the sky. The song's final repetition of the line "Only you can hear my soul" implies that the moon is a constant presence in the singer's life, a source of reassurance and comfort in the face of life's uncertainties.
