Stop!
Jane???s Addiction Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Señores y señoras
Nosotros tenemos más influencia con sus hijos que tú tiene
Pero los queremos
Creado y regado de Los Ángeles, ¡Juana's adicción!

Here we go
No
No way
No one
Gonna stop, now go!

Save the complaints
For a party conversation
The world is loaded
It's lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop

No one
No one!
No way
Gonna
Stop, now go!

Farm people
Book wavers, soul savers
Love teachers!
Lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop

No one
Move on

One come a day, the water will run
No man will stand for things that he had done
Hurrah

And the water will run

One come a day, the water will run
No man will stand for things that he had done
Hurrah!

And the water will run
Yeah it will run, oh
Yeah it will run, oh oh

Get
Go

Gimmie that, gimmie that your automobile
Turn off that smokestack and that goddamn radio
Hum along with me, along with the TV

Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh, oh oh oh
No, oh oh

No
One's

Gonna
Stop

Overall Meaning

These lyrics from Jane’s Addiction’s song ‘Stop!’ highlight the band’s unique blend of hard rock and poetry. The opening lines, delivered in Spanish, create an immediate sense of intensity and intrigue, translate to: “Ladies and gentlemen, we have more influence with your children than you do, but we love them. Created and nurtured in Los Angeles, Juana’s Addiction!” This could imply that the band has a certain authority and connection with the youth culture and is well aware of their interests and behavior. However, the band doesn't use this power to control the younger generation, instead uses it to express their music and message through their art.

The song then quickly moves onto the chorus with the lyrics “No one’s gonna stop, now go!”, this has an energetic and motivating tone, like a call to action. The ensuing lines “Save the complaints for a party conversation, the world is loaded, it’s lit to pop”, elaborate on this message. They are asking the listener to ignore any objections and instead focus on enjoying the moment, because the world is explosive and it's essential to live life to its fullest. The verse “Farm people, book wavers, soul savers, Love teachers! Lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop” shows that the song is inclusive, and that all people (farmers or educated) from different backgrounds can enjoy the song's message and intensity.

@nojo9684

I mean I like this song. Why else would I be here? But I highly disagree that it's one of the best rock songs ever. Definitely needs more views though. At the BARE MINIMUM 250,000,000.

Edit: I even just saw them live with the smashing pumpkins a few days ago. Great show. Would definitely go back. I still haven't changed my stance.

@JM-qn3tf

@DominiqueGarofalo

This was always my favorite Jane's Addiction song. Haven't heard it in years.
