Stop!
Jane’s Addiction Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Save the complaints
For a party conversation.
The world is loaded,
It's lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop...

No one...
No one!
No way!
Gonna stop,
Now; go!

Farm people,
Book wavers, soul savers,
Love preachers!
Lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop.

No one...
One come a day, the water will run,
No man will stand for things that he had done...
Hurrah!
And the water will run...
One come a day, the water will run,
No man will stand for things that he had done...
Hurrah!
And the water will run...
Will run!
Will run!

Gimmie that!
Gimmie that - your automobile,
Turn off that smokestack
And that goddamn radio
Hum... along with me...
Hum along with the t.v.

No one's

Gonna
Stop!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Stop!" by Jane's Addiction are a call to action to stop complaining and instead actively engage in changing the world. The opening lines, "Save the complaints for a party conversation," suggest that complaining without action is futile. The world is filled with problems, but instead of being overwhelmed by them, the song urges listeners to take action. The phrase "lit to pop" refers to the idea that the world is on the verge of exploding. The repetition of "No one... No one! No way! Gonna stop, now; go!" serves as a rallying cry for listeners to take action.

The second verse describes different types of people, including "farm people, book wavers, soul savers, and love preachers." This diverse group of people is united in their desire for change, and the line "lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop" reinforces their determination. The bridge of the song paints a picture of a future where the water runs out and people have to face the consequences of their actions. The use of the word "hurrah" suggests a sense of relief that the water is finally running, as if it's a good thing that people are being forced to confront the reality of their actions.

The final verse is a call to action to stop polluting and consuming without thought. The line "Gimmie that - your automobile, turn off that smokestack and that goddamn radio" suggests that people need to stop prioritizing convenience over the environment. The final repetition of "No one's gonna stop!" serves as a reminder that change is possible if people take action and work together.

I'd probably have an anxiety attack when my time comes! 😂 I've been celibate almost seven year's. So proud of my self control, as well as my mental, physical, and spiritual growth.

For me, the ability to abstain from sex goes way farther than sex itself. Just growing, loving myself, and doing what's best for me. Really loving the woman I've grown to be.

This a beautiful reply! I am on a similar journey. October will be four years of abstinence/celibacy. Thank you for openly sharing.

well I waited 9 years with my ex fiance who is now in heaven and boy I was very nervous but he was patient and took his time and we enjoyed our time together but he passed away sadly once he left I was back on the road to being celibate again I keep getting the why are you doing that and I would say every time because society has no respect for women body enough to stop the movement happening and sadly want to facepalm Abstinent people and celibacy because we have the word respect and more and they don't want to see that

@Sassy D I wouldn’t pay them any mind. You're doing what's best for you. It is our choice to decide if and when we our ready.

We shouldnt feel pressured, rushed, and or like something is wrong with us, for abstaining. Your ex sounds like the perfect gentlemen, so sorry for your loss! 🙏🏼❤

I’m so glad I found your video. I’m 45 and I’ve only had one sexual partner, which was my ex husband. We’ve been divorced for 5 years now and I haven’t been sexually active since the divorce. When I told my friends I only had one sexual partner my entire life, they literally laughed and were in shock. I’ve been celibate for 5 years but I’m ready to find love again. I have no regrets about my decision to remain celibate because I had to heal from my emotional trauma first. Now my only fear is getting hurt again. Thanks for your video.

@crptnite

Blessings on your Journey 💜🙏🏽🕊️
