Stop!
Jane’s Addiction Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Save the complaints
For a party conversation.
The world is loaded,
It's lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop...

No one...
No one!
No way!
Gonna stop,
Now; go!

Farm people,
Book wavers, soul savers,
Love preachers!
Lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop.

No one...
One come a day, the water will run,
No man will stand for things that he had done...
Hurrah!
And the water will run...
One come a day, the water will run,
No man will stand for things that he had done...
Hurrah!
And the water will run...
Will run!
Will run!

Gimmie that!
Gimmie that - your automobile,
Turn off that smokestack
And that goddamn radio
Hum... along with me...
Hum along with the t.v.

No one's

Gonna
Stop!

Overall Meaning

Stop! by Jane’s Addiction is a complex song that reflects the social and environmental situation of the world. The lyrics express the need for people to stop complaining and start taking action rather than ignoring the glaring issues in the world. The song urges people to understand that the world is full of problems that need fixing, and that nobody can stop the problems from existing as they are lit to pop. It is a call to take control of one’s own life and do what needs to be done in order to make changes happen. The song speaks to the frustration felt by many people who feel overwhelmed by the problems of the world, but still feel the need to take action.

The lyrics mention farm people, book wavers, soul savers, and love preachers, which suggests that people from all walks of life need to work together to bring about positive changes. The line “One come a day, the water will run, No man will stand for things that he had done...” hints at the consequences of human actions on the environment, as well as the idea that people need to be held accountable for their actions. The song ends with an exclamation of “No one's gonna stop!”, suggesting that people need to keep moving forward, doing what they can, and not giving up, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Overall, Stop! is a powerful rallying cry to take action to address the world’s problems, and to understand that the power to change things lies within us.

@nojo9684

I mean I like this song. Why else would I be here? But I highly disagree that it's one of the best rock songs ever. Definitely needs more views though. At the BARE MINIMUM 250,000,000.

Edit: I even just saw them live with the smashing pumpkins a few days ago. Great show. Would definitely go back. I still haven't changed my stance.

@DominiqueGarofalo
