While at university, Siberry began performing in folk clubs in Guelph, Ontario, linking up first with singer Wendy Davis and then with bass guitarist John Switzer in a group called Java Jive. Following the split of Java Jive in 1979, her first self-titled album was released in 1981.
For her 1984 second album "No Borders Here" , Siberry mostly abandoned the folk approach in favour of electronic art-pop. Siberry's first hit was the No Borders Here track "Mimi on the Beach". Siberry's third album, The Speckless Sky (1985), continued her art-pop approach. It was another commercial and critical success, going gold in Canada by selling over 100,000 units and establishing Siberry as a Canadian pop star. The album provided another hit single, "One More Colour".
For her fourth album (her first for Reprise), Siberry created "The Walking". Released in 1988, it contained a set of intricately structured songs, many of which were lengthy and shifted between narrative viewpoints and characters.
Siberry's sixth album, When I Was a Boy, was completed in 1993. Siberry's next release, "Maria" (released in 1995) featured a more jazz-inspired direction with live acoustic instrumentation.
With her 1995 album Maria being a commercial failure, Siberry founded her own independent label, Sheeba Records. She has released all of her subsequent material on that label. While her public profile became lower after she became an independent artist, she retained a devoted cult following.
Early in 2006, Siberry closed her Sheeba office, then sold and gave away nearly all of her possessions -- including her home and instruments. On June 3, 2006, somewhere in northwestern Europe, Siberry changed her name to Issa. She revealed her new name to the public on June 24, 2006.
In 2016, she released the album "Ulysses' Purse" as Jane Siberry

you have yours I have mine
today mine happens to be about a...
a yellow dress
and behind the yellow dress
lies a warm and beating heart
that longs to tell a story
of which we are all a part
oh oh oh I love these things
so these things shall I bee
the honey bee
it has taken me so long to get up to speed
a looooonnnggggg winter
but the sun is slowly warming me
and ssssooo here I go towards the garden of love
oh oh oh I love these things
so these things shall I bee
the garden of love I can see it now
I am meandering as fast as I can
want to sip the nectar
I am making my way back to where I belong
oh oh oh I love these things
so these things shall I bee
and when I lay me down to sleep
in my flowery keep
the moon upon my face
I dream of bowls of milk
sailin' towards a sea of
roses
The lyrics of Jane Siberry's song 'Honey Bee' appear to be metaphorical in essence, and the song revolves around a yellow dress and a honey bee. The opening lines suggest that everyone has their own unique story to share, and the singer seems to be reflecting on her story that happens to involve a yellow dress. The yellow dress itself seems to symbolize something that the singer values, and behind it lies a warm and beating heart that longs to tell a story that everyone is a part of.
The singer then talks about the honey bee, and how it has taken her a long time to get up to speed after a long winter, which symbolizes a difficult time in her life. But, she is slowly beginning to be filled with the warmth of the sun again and is on her way towards the garden of love. The garden of love seems to symbolize a place where she belongs and where she can experience the beauty of the world.
Towards the end of the song, the singer expresses her desire to sip the nectar, which could symbolize the sweet experiences of life. She then talks about dreaming of bowls of milk when she lays down to sleep in her flowery keep, which could represent the nourishment that she receives from life. She concludes the song by sailing towards a sea of roses, which could be a metaphor for hope and new beginnings.

Awesome song. What a talent she is.

Lovely song. I attempted to like the previous poster's comment, and much to my chagrin, and due to an accident of the touch screen and it's fidgety nature, it was instead reported. My deepest apologies. I have no idea how to undo that.
