Lullaby Of Broadway
Janet Seidel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Always hear when you sigh
Never in my wordland
Could there be ways to reveal
In a phrase how I feel
Have you ever heard two turtle doves
Bill and coo when they love?
Music we make with our lips when we kiss
And there's a weepy old willow
He really knows how to cry
That's how I'd cry in my pillow
If you should tell me farewell and goodbye
Lullaby of Birdland whisper low
Kiss me sweet and we'll go
Flyin' high in Birdland
High in the sky up above
All because we're in love
The lyrics to Janet Seidel's song Lullaby of Broadway contain various picturesque descriptions of love and passion. The singer describes the feeling of hearing the lullaby of Birdland every time her beloved sighs, and how she could never find ways in her "wordland" to reveal her feelings. She then compares the magic of their love to the cooing of two turtle doves in love, as they "make music with their lips" when they kiss. However, she also acknowledges the possibility of sadness and sorrow that may come with love, expressed through the image of a "weepy old willow" that cries just like she would, should her lover say goodbye.
Overall, the lyrics speak to the depth and beauty of romantic love, as well as its potential for pain and heartbreak. They showcase the power of music and words to convey complex emotions in a vivid and evocative manner, making the song a timeless classic that resonates with listeners to this day.
