Perhaps
Janet Seidel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You won't admit you love me
And so how am I ever to know?
You only tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
A million times I ask you
You only answer
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
If you can't make your mind up
We'll never get started
And I don't wanna wind up
Being parted, broken-hearted.
So if you really love me
Say yes
But if you don't, dear, confess
And please don't tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
If you can't make your mind up
We'll never get started
Perhaps lyrics on ChiaSeNhac.com
And I don't wanna wind up
Being parted, broken-hearted.
So if you really love me
Say yes
But if you don't, dear, confess
And please don't tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
The song "Perhaps" by Janet Seidel is about a person who is uncertain about their lover's feelings towards them. The song's lyrics express the singer's frustration and confusion as they are unable to determine whether their lover feels the same way about them. The lines "You won't admit you love me, and so how am I ever to know? You only tell me perhaps, perhaps, perhaps" emphasize the singer's need for clarity and reassurance in their relationship.
The singer repeatedly questions their lover's feelings, but the lover's ambiguous responses only add to the singer's uncertainty. The lines "If you can't make your mind up, we'll never get started, and I don't wanna wind up being parted, broken-hearted" convey the singer's fear of ending up alone and heartbroken if their lover continues to be indecisive.

Really great performance. This is a wonderful album, along with the other two Art of Lounge ones, as well as all the rest. Thanks for posting this- I really enjoyed it.

Me and my friend both much prefer this to the Doris Day version - and Day's rendition was really good.
