Warda
Janice Mangion Lyrics

Il-qtar tax-xita nieżla rxiex
L-ilma jserrep bejn il-blat għatxan
Fil-vojt ta' wied mitluq
Rajtek ħiemda tfittex ftit serħan

Ilmaħt, il-weraq kiesaħ niedi aħdar skur
U ftaħt, kulurek abjad pur
Int, int warda ġġorr petali bellusin
Tfawwar dil-qalb bi fwejjaħ tant ħelwin
Int l-isbaħ fost il-fjur hawn f'dan il-ġnien
Turi ġmielek kullimkien
U int, int warda titla' 'l fuq minn fost l-għollieq
Ix-xewk li raw dir-ruħ minn kemm għaddiet
Waħdek ħielsa fjorixxejt fis-skiet

Mas-sebħ ir-raġġi taż-żerniq
Tawk il-ħajja imlewk bil-ħelsien
Għaraft il-verità
Illi bħalek żgur li m'hawn imkien

Ilmaħt, il-weraq kiesaħ niedi aħdar skur
U ftaħt, kulurek abjad pur

Int, int warda ġġorr petali bellusin
Tfawwar dil-qalb bi fwejjaħ tant ħelwin
Int l-isbaħ fost il-fjur hawn f'dan il-ġnien

Ħadd ma jaf, mal-lejl id-dmugħ inixxi bla waqfien
F'dak il-ksieħ, mal-eku tqil tar-riħ
La tibżax, hemm tama f'dawk għajnejk
La tibkix, se nkun għal dejjem ħdejk

Int, int warda ġġorr petali bellusin
Tfawwar dil-qalb bi fwejjaħ tant ħelwin
Int l-isbaħ fost il-fjur hawn f'dan il-ġnien
Turi ġmielek kullimkien
U int, int warda titla' 'l fuq minn fost l-għollieq

Ix-xewk li raw dir-ruħ minn kemm għaddiet
Waħdek ħielsa fjorixxejt fis-skiet

Overall Meaning

The song "Warda" by Janice Mangion tells the story of a blooming flower, symbolized by the name "Warda," which means "rose" in Arabic. The first verse describes a rainy scene in which the water flows between rocks while the singer searches for her true self. As the sun comes out, she discovers her true beauty, which is emphasized in the chorus when she compares herself to a rose, with beautiful petals that brighten up the world. She is also described as being the most beautiful amongst the flowers in the garden.

The second verse continues to emphasize the theme of self-discovery as the singer comes to understand her worth and realize that she is unique. She compares herself to the night, as everyone sees it as dark and gloomy, but when you look closer, you can see the beauty in it. She also describes herself as being like the wind, wild and free, which nobody can control. The final chorus emphasizes the idea that there is hope and that the singer will always be there for herself, to bloom and shine.

Overall, "Warda" is a beautiful song about self-discovery, self-love, and self-acceptance. It is a reminder that we should always embrace our uniqueness and love ourselves for who we are, just like a rose has to grow and love itself to bloom.

I'm still sad and mad because she didn't represented Malta last year at Eurovision with the masterpiece "Kewkba". This is another masterpiece from you Janice. I wish i could understand Maltese. I hope you'll represent Malta in near future with song in beautiful Maltese language. Greetings from Skopje, Macedonia! ♥

@toyahsammut

This is amazing!! I thought Kewkba would be a one time wonder, but Warda is just as powerful and amazing. PLEASE another similar, emotional entry for Eurovision 2019!

Janice Mangion shows that our language, Maltese, is too beautiful to be wasted and degraded. She does this by consistently releasing extraordinary songs, such as this song, ‘Kewkba’ and her newest song ‘Xewqti’. Well done Janice, you are an inspiration to all singers.

If this song was submitted to the Malta Eurovision of this year and didn't make it through..... it would really show that they messed up. This is one heck of a song! I have a strong feeling that Janice will represent us one day...... it would really be nice if she did so with a Maltese entry. Her time will come!

Grazzi hafna for more of beautiful you. Everything about you as an artist is so pure and magical. Another song and another fantastic composition in which you totally shine with your voice. I got goosebumps which means you did a wonderful job on this song. Maltese is a beautiful language and people need to hear it at Eurovision in this way. I hope you return to MESC with that kind of amazing song and win so you can show to the whole Europe and the world that such a language exists.
Lots of love from Poland! <3
