La mujer que un día fuí
Jannette Chao Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Cómo puedo ser quien soy
Si para estar contigo
Tengo que aprender a ser
Algo más que sólo soy contigo

Si comienzo por negar
Lo que siento y que preciso
A dónde voy a llegar
Siendo espejo de tu mismo

No recuerdo como habla
La mujer que un día fui
Ya no vive sobrevive
La que duerme junto a ti

No respira el mismo aire
Ya no es luciernaga
Se ha matado por seguirte
Para darte a ti la vida

No recuerdo lo que piensa
La mujer que un día fui
Ya no hay vida entre sus manos
Se fue su arcoiris

Es tan sólo un vil reflejo
De tu egoísta realidad
Todo lo que le has pedido
Te lo ha dado sin dudar

Ya no es ni mariposa
Ya no sueña con volar
Ya no dice lo que piensa
Ya no le interesa hablar

No quiere tener razón
Se le muere la pasión
Todo por lo que moría
Lo ha guardado en un cajón

Ya no te cuenta sus miedos
No la sabes escuchar
Ya no te cuenta sus sueños
No te pueden importar

No trata de conquistarte
Porque tú la acostumbraste
A vivir de lo inmediato
A comer de la rutina

O tal vez porque recuerdo
Todo lo que un día fui
Es preciso que hoy me marche lejos
Lejos de ti

A un lugar que no conozcas
Que no sepas como ir
Y me olvide de tu nombre
Y lo que siento por ti

Y me olvide que te amaba
Que te di mi eternidad
Y me olvide que te daba
Hasta lo que no tenía

Y me olvide de tus ojos
Tus reproches y tu piel
Y me olvide de que existes
Que te olvide por mi bien

Que te olvide y vuelva a ser
La mujer que un día fui

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Jannette Chao's song "La mujer que un día fui" reflect on the struggles of a woman who has lost her sense of identity and individuality in a relationship. She feels that she has had to change who she is in order to be with her partner, and in doing so, has lost touch with her true self. She talks about the difficulty of denying her own feelings and needs to mirror her partner's expectations, and how this leaves her feeling like just a reflection of him.

The woman remembers a time when she was more alive, when she had her own thoughts, dreams, and passions. But now, she feels that she is just surviving and not really living. She has given so much of herself to her partner, but he doesn't seem to appreciate it or even see her as an individual. She feels like she has lost everything that once made her special and unique, and has become a shadow of her former self.

Towards the end of the song, the woman decides that she needs to leave the relationship in order to rediscover herself. She wants to go to a place where she can forget about her partner and all the pain he has caused her. She wants to forget that she ever loved him and start anew. Although this decision is difficult, she knows that it's necessary for her to regain her sense of self and live a fuller, happier life.

Overall, the lyrics of "La mujer que un día fui" speak to the struggles many women face in relationships where they feel unappreciated, unheard, and lost. It's a powerful reminder that we must never forget who we are and what we stand for, and that it's okay to walk away from anything that doesn't serve our highest good.
