In 1996, he released his first solo album Jason Falkner Presents Author Unknown, which was produced, written, and performed almost entirely by Falkner (the only exception being some guitar overdub done by Alain Johannes). Although it received strong critical reviews, it was not a commercial success. During that same year, he wrote several songs on Brendan Benson's album One Mississippi, and played various instruments on an album released in 1996 by Susanna Hoffs. In 1997, he worked with Eric Matthews on a second album, The Lateness of the Hour, co-producing and assisting on five tracks.
In 1999, Falkner released Can You Still Feel?, another album written and performed as an entire solo effort and was produced with Nigel Godrich. In 2000 Jason was kept very busy, touring and contributing to various projects, including working with and touring as a bassist for the French band Air, and contributing guitar parts to a few Paul McCartney songs. He recorded a song for a tribute album, and played backup on Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Brian Reitzell's album Logan's Sanctuary.
Jason is credited as performing several instruments on Beck's albums The Information and Modern Guilt from 2006 and 2008. He is currently a part of Beck and St. Vincent's touring bands.
He released his third album I'm OK... You're OK in Japan in 2007. In 2009, he released his fourth album All Quiet on the Noise Floor, again only in Japan. In 2015, he worked with R. Stevie Moore, releasing a collaboration album called Make It Be.
Honey
Jason Falkner Lyrics

Staring, starin' at the orange sun?
Who's that laughin' all the way home? It's me...
So you are pretty sure I am the one
You checked me out, I'm loads of fun
You think I may also be slighty insane
You've seen me dance, that's proof enough
She tastes like honey
She's broken all my rules but she is the exeption
She tastes like honey
Time has a way of revealing the truth
Like ugly trends from a desperate youth
I only hope hindsight is kinder to us
And we don't find we've missed the bus
I got this little girl who overflows with questions
She tastes like honey
She's broken all my rules but she is the exeption
Does that sound funny?
How can you help anyone if you can't help yourself?
How can you help anyone if you can't help yourself?
How can you help anyone if you can't help yourself?
Who's that peering through the keyhole?
Standing, standin' on his tippy toes
Who's that starin' at a blank page? It's me...
Should we be worried we're movin' so fast
I can't resist that kiss
So tell me to stop and I promise I'll try
that's when she said "Let's stay in bed"
I got this little girl who tells it like it is
She tastes like honey
I've forgotten all my rules have a look syhe's an exeption
How can you help anyone if you can't help yourself?
How can you help anyone if you can't help yourself?
How can you help anyone if you can't help yourself?
How can I help anyone if I can't help myself?
How can I help anyone if I can't help myself?
How can I help anyone if I can't help myself?
How can I help anyone if I can't help myself?
The song "Honey" by Jason Falkner is a wistful reflection on relationships and the passage of time. The opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song, hinting at a sense of longing and introspection as the singer muses about someone who is staring up at the sky and laughing all the way home. The song follows a pattern of contrasting opposites: the singer feels both happy and unsure, confident and vulnerable.
The verse about the little girl who overflows with questions is particularly poignant, as it suggests that the singer is looking for someone to guide and support, even as he struggles with his own issues. Ultimately, the song is about the importance of self-care and self-awareness - as the chorus repeats, "How can you help anyone if you can't help yourself?"
Overall, the lyrics to "Honey" are dreamy and introspective, offering a glimpse into the inner world of the singer and his longing for connection and understanding.
