Doing things differently has been a hallmark of Jason’s life. Now 26, Jason has long since given up the glitz and glamour of meat judging for a career in music, and he continues to take the road less traveled. He says, “but I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I wasn’t truly living the kind of life I was intended to live. The more I thought about it, the more I had to find out what that meant”
This search for true life eventually bore fruit with the Alive in the Fall album, a wide-reaching collection of alterna-folk songs incorporating shimmer-pop piano flourishes and alt-country washes of steel strings that, according to Flagpole Magazine, “brims with sincerity and soul”. “With Alive in the Fall”, Jason says, ”my goal is to share these experiences in the hope that they will find someone in a similar place and, ultimately, offer them something real. Something that didn’t come out of a computer. I feel that’s my responsibility as a songwriter.”

Jason Harwell Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We talk about things that we cannot explain as we drive
Hope is a curious thing
And it leads you right in to the ring
The world won't stop spinning
I don't feel anything
So what will you need to keep warm at night
I can't describe
To have and to hold
'Til I need to let go
What will you do with the best day of your life?
I brought you daisies amazingly they're still alive
I remembered to cut off the stems with a sharp kitchen knife
At least for today they're okay
Inside a nice crystal vase
Suffice it to say it's the best day of my life
So what will you need to keep warm at night
In my safest of places
I can't describe
To have and to hold
'Til I need to let go
What do you do with the best day of your life?
So rejoice now
I'll rejoice now
All rejoice now
So what will you need to keep warm at night
In my safest of places
I can't describe
To have and to hold
'Til I need to let go
What do you do with the best day of your life?
The lyrics of "Flowers" by Jason Harwell are open to interpretation, but one common theme seems to be the complexity of emotions and experiences that make up our lives. The opening lines describe the passing of time and the unexplainable things we discuss with others during our journey. The singer then touches on the idea of hope, which can lead us through life's ups and downs, but does not necessarily make everything feel okay all the time. The chorus brings up the idea of needing someone or something to feel safe, and asks what we do with the best day of our lives.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of both uncertainty and celebration. The singer is acknowledging the highs and lows, and seems to be striving for a balance between them. The daisies mentioned represent a moment of joy, but the fact that they had to be cut to last suggests the fleeting nature of that joy.
Overall, "Flowers" is a reflective song that explores the complexities of life and the emotions that come with it.
