Waar gaan jou spore toe waai?
Die Here hoor my ons sal 'n lewe vind
Die Here hoor my ons sal 'n lewe vind
Ek belowe jou
Die Here hoor my ons sal 'n lewe vind

Ek belowe jou
Die land behoort aan jou
The lyrics to Jay's song "Die Land" are a reflection on the country and what it means for future generations. The chorus speaks to a parent's concern for their child and what they will inherit. The lyrics ask questions about where one will go and what one will do, hinting at a feeling of uncertainty and a need to establish a sense of direction. The imagery of the sun, sea, and land provide a sense of familiarity and comfort, as if these are the things that will remain constant in an ever-changing world. The line "die land behoort aan jou" (the land belongs to you) repeats throughout the song, highlighting the idea that the country is a precious inheritance that must be preserved for future generations.
The verse that stands out the most is the one that asks, "Wat het geword van die liefde? Wat het geword van die droom?" (What has become of love? What has become of the dream?) These lines reflect on the state of the country and seem to suggest that things aren't as they should be. The line "Trane van duisende val op die sand" (Thousands of tears fall on the sand) poignantly describes the collective sadness felt by many as they watch the dream of a better future slip away.
Overall, "Die Land" is an emotional and reflective song that speaks to the desire for a better future and the responsibility that comes with inheriting something as precious as a country.

That's awesome Margaret. My dad and I like the Irish and one of the reasons is because with certain things we have quite a bit in common. Do you understand what they are singing? I copied another commenters translation for you in case you'd like it (or haven't seen it already). You can google it too, but it isn't the same. :-)

English Translation
[Steve opening Narration]
"Some of my friends and I got together to share a message of hope.
It's not just about the situation that we are in, but about what we
believe in for our descendants and also yours."
[Bok]
Where are you going to play with your friends?
Where are your footprints going to be covered by the wind?
[Ruhan]
Where are you going to fall? Are you going to get up and cry?
Where will you be standing when the sunset stretches for miles?
[Steve]
What do we leave for our children?
What will we be able to show one day?
I want to know what is still right and wrong.
What do we do when years of sweat and toil is forgotten?
[CHORUS]
I leave you the sun and the sea and the soil my child
I promise you will find me at the end
my flag will keep waving in the wind
the seeds I will sow...for you
and keep you safe
I leave you the sun and the sea and the soil my child
By God, we will find a life
my flag will keep waving in the wind
the seeds I will sow...for you
I promise you, the land belongs to you
[Bobby]
What happened to the love?
What happened to the dream?
[All]
The tears of thousands fall on the sand
making the trees grow stronger in the fields
[CHORUS] x2
I leave you the sun and the sea and the soil my child
I promise you will find me at the end
my flag will keep waving in the wind
the seeds I will sow...for you
and keep you safe
I leave you the sun and the sea and the soil my child
By God, we will find a life
my flag will keep waving in the wind
the seeds I will sow...for you
I promise you, the land belongs to you

In honour of my father who served in 32 Buffalo Battalion in Angola in the early 80s.
I just want to to say that although Australia is far from a Christian nation. I do however respect the way Australian society for the most part takes an individual on their merits not their skin colour. I feel a sense of harmony here in that respect.
Perhaps a harmony not so different from when people of colour trekked with the original trek Boers. Surely these original trek Boers also took these people of colour on their merits. They probably had to, just to survive TOGETHER.
Likewise, This whole Australian experience has reinforced and solidified what my father taught me about 32 Battalion as a little boy speaking of how the blood on the sand and in the Bundu bush of Angola did not care for your skin colour, rather merit demonstrated TOGETHER.
My father was very passionate about looking after fellow soldiers of his former platoon especially those languishing in Pomfrets unhealthy conditions.
The reason I bring these things up is not unrelated.
South Africa will become a HAVEN FOR CHRISTIANS.
In the spirit of who my father fought with and for In Angola with 32 Battalion and finally in the merit based racial harmony I’ve experienced in Australia.
If you’re reading this, and the time comes for South Africa to be a Christian Haven.
Plz don’t turn away Christians of colour and REALLY break the chains the WORLD has given the Afrikaner. Prove them wrong boet!

@@carlogiel Regarding Australia. I have lived here for 12 years now. Came here as a family of four. Now it’s only me left.
I sometimes sit in an empty field or by the beach ALONE. I am amazed at what a beautiful country this(Australia)is and how much it FEELS like South Africa.
This realisation makes me so sad. In my mind I hear the voices of my Family speaking and laughing in Afrikaans then slowly fading away never to be FELT again.
My Afrikaner family is no longer in my life here and I miss speaking my first language .
