I try to see him in person whenever he performs locally, usually at the Basie theatre in Red Bank. He still has a powerful voice to go along with his sometimes comical routine.

I love Jay Black and his version of Cara Mia is Perfect but I like the Johnny Mathis version of this song much better. Both are two of the best voices of all time.

Best version. Sounds authentic, while Mathis has that cheesy "don't go" chick in the background.

Totally agree. Not only the Mathis backup vocals, but the whole musical arrangement make it sound like he's not that committed to Mary, despite the lyrics. Jay, however, sounds like he's really conflicted.

Jay never really wrote songs before. The only relevant thing to writing he ever did was when he re-wrote "Cara Mia" turning it into a Rock and Roll song
