The school is not the cure-all, parents have to be accountable for having children and looking after them. This school year, I have never seen so many parents that have checked out of their kids lives.

I agree it is very hard to keep kids on track when they are linked to sources of the home they return to.

I get trying to get white kids to understand however black kids are socially diverse awkward and have a buffet of varied issues.

Parents and Kids are having the same traumas the difference between is age kids and the adults are operating at the same trauma capacity both come from broken families.

Jay Barnett is truly reiterating what Dr. Umar Johnson has said over n over again in a lot of his videos dealing with Black boys in the school system by being put or mislabeled in special education. He is so right. Before my father pass, he told me he was proud of me. I hug him and shared that moment with him. So everyday I tell my kids the same thing. Wow that open the doors between us. I never been so glad to spend time with my father.

Some students act out in order to get attention and to feel a sense of importance. Also, there's little in those textbooks that give a Black kid a sense of belonging; something that stimulates them. Black History and our contributions to the onward progress on Civilization has been intentionally & systematically omitted from all textbooks....worldwide.

Jay was on point about artists today vs artists when we grew up and what they talked about. But that's what I've ALWAYS loved about 2Pac: he consistently and regularly talked about what was going on inside of him. And it made him stick out to me cuz while most other artists were talking about how great they were (which Pac did, too, of course - and still do today), Pac talked regularly about what was wrong with him and about his struggles occurring in different parts of his being. That dynamic in his music has helped me process other things in my life, even if I wasn't ever banging or dealing. The struggle to survive is what's relatable across all contexts of life. This was a dope interview. As a black man there was a few parts I could relate to. Especially the feeling of doing the healing, something will still both you from time to time. But overall you have a peace of mind by not responding how you use to which could of lead to conflict or a bigger disagreement.

Yes!!! I just left the school system. I loved my black little boys!! I hated writing office referrals. All they need is love! It was so funny that it was time for my Kindergarten student to go to first grade and he would walk out of his first grade teacher room and come back to my room. What I learned that he was angry because his Dad beat up on his mother! I just learned to love him no matter how he acted in my classroom. Because how I loved on him killed the behavior in my room.
