My relationship with my son is not where it’s supposed to be. I believe that is manifesting in some mental health and emotional difficulties.

Watching this episode gave me the encouragement and hope to continue to dialogue with him.

I wish there was a camp/retreat for black fathers and sons to start the healing journey.

If there is one, I hope you guys could recommend one.

Again, thank you for such a great conversation.

This was beyond informative. Thanks HI and team. Can we have Mr. Barnett back on?

As a take away I learned to treat people especially sound men, with more grace active and effective listen not to respond but understand. Remembering that when or if he’s opening up let him no interruptions or even questions until he finish speaking. Be a safe place for him to land because he’s also fighting just like I am out in the world and beyond.

Man these men need a show ! Like the world needs to know about this fear is they may water them down 😢 black men & women need this it’s like we’re in the “barbershop” with them or listening to an older brother or father give you advice. And it’s all so healthy 🫶🏾🥹

As a black woman, this has been an amazing podcast. It’s about time that black men are able to speak and be heard. We preach about equality this is something that everyone needs to hear. Especially, as a woman, because this gives us an insight on how to give grace and space for them to feel comfortable in the relationship.

Dr. Jay, thank you for being transparent. My prayer is that your vulnerability will help fathers understand the impact of their absence. You are a wise man.

This episode was so enlightening. My 17 year old daughter died by suicide a year ago as of yesterday. She also self harmed and had a previous attempt the year before. I thought I was getting her all the help she needed (psychiatrist, a counselor , and iep plan for school ) but she still ended her life and I have been on a healing journey every since. 😢 this episode was very deep and really gave me insight into her mind 😢
