Like You Do

No complaints
I understand this place
When I get home will you be in?
Will I lose it all and pull away?
Like you do
Like you do
But this is the world that turns for the living
This is the world we're chained to
Yours is the heart that keeps on giving
Yours is the heart I'm chained to
I see the future
I see the shape
Of things to come I wait
As we get older as we decay
Will I lose it all and pull away?
Like you do
Like you do
But this is the world that turns for the living
This is the world we're chained to
Yours is the heart that keeps on giving
Yours is the heart I'm chained to
Oh but these are the lives we lead
Living in a world that's bleeding
This is the love we need
You are the only reason
Nobody does it like you do
Like you do
Like you do
Like you do, Like you do Like you do
This is the world that turns for the living
This is the world we're chained to
Like you do
Like you do
This is the world we're chained to
The lyrics of Jay Stolar's "Like You Do" revolve around the idea of being grounded in reality, and yet bound to love. The opening lines, "I got it all, No complaints, I understand this place" convey a feeling of contentment, but at the same time, the next line "When I get home will you be in?" shows that the singer has an anchor that keeps him grounded. He is worried that the love he has may drift away over time, and he might lose it like some people do.
The chorus part, "But this is the world that turns for the living, This is the world we're chained to, Yours is the heart that keeps on giving, Yours is the heart I'm chained to" indicates that the singer knows that he is chained to the reality of life and the love he has. He is bound to love, but at the same time, he is certain that the heart he is chained to is generous and selfless.
The next set of lines, "I see the future, I see the shape, Of things to come I wait, As we get older as we decay, Will I lose it all and pull away?" indicates the singer's fear of the future. He is unsure if the love will last or whether it will decay, as people get older or how life shapes up. He is afraid he will pull away like others do. Yet, he trusts the heart he is chained to, and he knows he'll stay, just like the way it happens - "Like you do, Like you do."
