Rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum
Shall I play for you, pa-rum pum pum pum

Then He smiled at me pa-rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum
The lyrics to Jaymz Bee & the Royal Jelly Orchestra's song, The Little Drummer Boy, tell the story of a poor boy who, despite not having any gifts to bring to the newborn King, decides to play his drum as a way to honor Him. The opening verse sets the scene, with the boy being told to come and see the King, and bringing his finest gifts to lay before Him. However, he then admits he is too poor to have any gifts of value. Instead, he offers to play his drum for the King, which Mary agrees to. The second verse describes the boy playing his drum for the baby Jesus, while the Ox and Lamb keep time. Despite his lack of material possessions, the boy plays his best for the King, and in the final verse, Jesus smiles at him, recognizing the purity of his offering.
The song is a powerful reminder that even the smallest and seemingly inconsequential act can be meaningful in the eyes of the divine. The boy's willingness to offer his talent and passion, even when he had nothing material to offer, is a testament to the transformative nature of devotion and faith. In the end, it is not the cost or grandeur of the gifts offered that matters, but the sincerity and purity of the heart that offers them.
