When singer Bettina Mischke and keyboard player Roland Grosch decided to found Jazzamor in 2001 they perhaps did not imagine that their minimalistic lounge arrangements would take off so quickly. Two albums in three years have highlighted their productivity as they firm out their smoothe 60s jazzy sounds in Europe's main languages. The albums' commercial success have decided the pair on plunging into the live circuit with the same passion they brought to their recordings.
In 2006 they released their third studio album "Travel... (In Order Not To Arrive)". A trip around the world in music. Each song is placed at a special setting in the world. Sometimes it's the language, other times it's an instrument, a rhythm or a story that brings us on a journey to a distant country or a city. Sometimes it's just a wishful dream, other times tales of being there.

Childhood Dreams
Jazzamor Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I agreed
That we'll once meet by an appletree
But now it seems
That childhood dreams
Are like a game cause we are not the same
I know
You know
Spring is leaving summer comes
I never wanna say good bye
But maybe baby that's allright
Summer dies autumn comes
I never wanna say good bye
But maybe baby that's allright
When we met twice
I realized
We couldn't take the way to paradise
Good bye my love
Of childhood days
We won't forget our lovely place
I know
You know
There's no longer a burning flame
Spring is leaving summer comes
I never wanna say good bye
But maybe baby that's allright
Summer dies autumn comes
I never wanna say good bye
But maybe baby that's allright
The lyrics to Jazzamor’s song Childhood Dreams are a nostalgic reflection on a past relationship that once held promises of meeting by an apple tree. The singer references childhood dreams as a comparison to their current reality, where they cannot fulfill that promise due to growing apart from their former partner. The song evokes the sentimental feelings of reminiscing on a time when love seemed untarnished by the challenges of adulthood.
The first two lines, “You’d promised me, and I agreed,” suggest a mutual agreement to meet at the apple tree, a symbol of innocence, purity, and new beginnings. However, the subsequent lines, “But now it seems that childhood dreams are like a game cause we are not the same,” reveal the eventual disappointment and disillusionment in the promise that once held so much hope.
The chorus repeats the same sentiment of not wanting to say goodbye but realizing it might be for the best. The final verse ends on the bittersweet realization that they’ve grown apart from their former love and will never be able to return to the place where their love once blossomed.
Overall, Childhood Dreams is a melancholic yet beautiful song that captures the emotional complexity of reminiscing on past relationships and acknowledging the inevitability of change.
