He gained fame for his starring role in the 2004 French film Les Choristes. Maunier plays Pierre Morhange, a delinquent with an exceptional singing voice at the correctional school Fond de L'Etang. The original soundtrack of Les Choristes features Maunier and the children's choir Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc (full name is La Chorale des Petits Enfants De Saint-Marc). Christophe Barratier, the director of Les Choristes, chose Maunier for his vocal talent and appearance. Maunier has since left the choir.
In 2005, Maunier also sang in Concerto pour Deux Voix (Concerto for Two Voices) with Clémence Saint-Preux. He also played a young miner, Robert, in the 2005 television series Le Cri.
Maunier also lent his voice to the animated film Piccolo, Saxo et Compagnie, a musical adventure starring musical instruments and notes. Maunier is Saxo, a cheeky character that loves improvisation and helps Piccolo on a wild adventure.
His most recent feature film, Le Grand Meaulnes, opened in theaters in France on October 4, 2006. He stars opposite Clémence Poésy and Nicolas Duvauchelle. Jean-Baptiste will embody the role of François Seurel, also the narrator of the story. The story details the adventures of François and his friend Augustin Meaulnes (Duvauchelle).
Maunier's newest film, Hellphone, was released on March 28th, 2007. He acts as the main character, Sid.
Though Jean-Baptiste has not completely abandoned singing, it is clear that his vocal career is on hiatus for now. He still sings with Les Enfoirés, a chorus of the biggest stars in France that periodically performs benefit concerts.

La fille du bar me dis toi t'as l'air d'avoir perdu ton
chemin
The lyrics of Jean-Baptiste Maunier's song Les nuits revolver paint a surreal, dream-like picture of a cold and rainy night in the city. The singer walks down the Rue de la Joie, where he sees the neon lights of a bar and decides to enter. Inside, he encounters a variety of strange characters, including a homeless man who wants to destroy the world, a bored and disillusioned street philosopher who reminds the singer of Einstein, a mysterious girl who invites him to "burn her night," and a sailor who declares that the sky is empty. The singer feels lost and uncertain about his purpose, but he is drawn to the girl's perfume and the dream-like atmosphere of the bar. The song ends with a sense of ambiguity and possibility, as the singer chooses to stay in the bar and continue his night instead of engaging in grandiose speeches about history or revolution.
The lyrics of Les nuits revolver are notable for their vivid imagery and surrealistic tone. The song captures a sense of disorientation and confusion that is typical of urban life, but it does so with a poetic and imaginative flair. The singer's encounters with the various characters in the bar suggest a sense of alienation and disconnect that many people feel in modern society. At the same time, the dream-like quality of the song suggests the possibility of finding moments of connection and meaning, even amid the chaos and uncertainty of the world.
