Dum dum, da-doo-dum, dum dum, da-doo-dum
Dum dum, da-doo-dum, da-doo-dum, dum dum
But long is the road (Américain)
Hard is the way (Américain)
Heavy my load (Américain)
But deep is my faith (Américain)
Long is the road (Américain)
But long is the road (Américain)
Hard is the way (Américain)
Heavy my load (Américain)
But deep is my faith (Américain)
Long is the road (Américain)
Got my shoes (oh, my Lord)
Got my hands(oh, my Lord)
Nothing to lose (oh, my Lord)
But oh, my Lord (oh, my Lord)
Got my faith (oh, my Lord)
Got my Lord (oh, my Lord)
And I'm free!
(Américain, Américain)

The song "Long is the Road" by Jean-Jacques Goldman describes the story of an immigrant leaving his country and family behind to start a new life in the United States. The opening verse describes the journey beyond the borders of his homeland, into harsh foreign lands where even the gods have forgotten - a metaphorical picture of the treacherous journey he is embarking upon. With just a meager suitcase carrying his possessions and his determination, he sets out to make his way in America, the land of opportunities.
The second verse presents a harsh reality for the immigrants arriving at the land of the free. The quest for success in the new world often involves a price tag that can sometimes consume one's humanity- the reference to Highway 61 and Bob Dylan's classic ballad highlights the widespread disillusionment and suffering experienced by many who arrived to America with high hopes for better lives. They were sometimes met with struggles, despair, and the feeling that the new world was not as advertised. Nevertheless, through all the challenges and trials, the singer holds onto his faith, optimism, and determination- proclaiming that "Long is the road, hard is the way, but deep is my faith."

@@noeliebramardi4175 Les paroles sont sublimes !! Et très vraies....
In the world we don't know, made of deserts and pain
Where despite all the faith, needs of screamings remain
For whatever you do, efforts are all in vain
You are doomed from the start, maybe God is to blame
In the bundle he packs, nothing more than a dream
Of a country where earth is not dirt but all clean
He's so poor and so young, he's got nothing to lose
Just the peace of his mind, but no way he can choose
There's a treasure he keeps very close to his heart
It's the paper that says he's allowed a new start
But long is the road,
Hard is the way,
Heavy my load,
But deep is my faith,
Long is the road
And the California scene with a girl in blue jeans
Chevy's a goal with a bar and a phone
Give up your pride to be on the right side
Cash is the key and each hope has a fee
And Hollywood's a proof of the price
Lift up the hood, truth is not very nice
But no one cares bout the cheat and the lies
If there is gold, they'll give in till they die
But long is the road,
Hard is the way,
Heavy my load,
But deep is my faith,
Long is the road
Got my shoes,
Got my head,
Nothing to lose,
Oh my lord
Got my faith
Got my lord
And I pray (Parler d'sa vie.net)
